Guesthouse Skjöldólfsstadir

Very nice accommodations on the Ring Road, just outside Eigilstaddir and convenient to Studlagil. Clean comfortable room, friendly staff, warm and welcoming common area, hamburger with blueberry sauce was amazing, breakfast had many delicious  options to fill your stomach for the day

The place was cozy and the staff was exstremely helpfull and nice. The food was excellent. Everything made from scratch with ingredients from the land. It was that good that we came again on the way back.

If you want a reindeer themed, brand new rooms and bathrooms with a home cooked meal while you are in eastern Iceland - STAY HERE. I stayed here one night as part of a tour around the ring road - what a lovely place. The rooms are in EXCELLENT shape with brand new bathrooms. And dinner was a home cooked meal of lamb and vegetables. A vegan/vegetarian option is available. Breakfast was also lovely. It felt like we were at my grandma’s house, and I encourage anyone who is in need of a place to stay in this area of Iceland to stay here.

This place is super clean and makes me feel as if I am at home. Stopped here for a night and the bed was comfy and the only issue was the shower which was kinda broken but there was a second shower head. I also wasn’t the biggest fan of the mounted animals but I just happen to be against that sort of thing.

This guesthouse is owned and run by an Icelandic gentleman. He greets you when you check in and hands you your key to your simple room. The room does not have a TV or kettle it is just a place for you to lay over for the night. The hotel restaurant serves limited food. It was a choice between vegetarian burger or Icelandic lamb. I chose the latter and it was good.

Super nice staff!

Simple and rustic guesthouse 

I joined 6 night 7 days minibus tour and stayed here with my daughter (8 years old) for one night. To be honest, this was a super normal guesthouse and it didn’t give any good and bad impression to me. Just sleeping is OK and not so bad.

GOOD
1, We had good soup for dinner and this was great while hamburger is so normal.
2, Nothing around so it is good for those who don’t like noisy place.
 
NOT SO GOOD
1, breakfast is so simple and just food to start a day. 
2, Room is old but clean, it was OK. However, there were only two shower booses for room of 10 or more. When we stayed, there were not so many guests but it would be trouble if there were many guests.

Super normal guest house

First hotel or guesthouse I have stayed in so far during my week in Iceland where the rooms have no tea/coffee making facility or tv. There is a communal area where all guests share a kettle and tv. Plus side bathroom looked very new.

Basic

There were beds with clean sheets, and a bathroom. Tere was also an owner - or manager or both- who doesn’t enjoy his work nor cares about customers. A robot would make better the work. Alll this can be seen in the badly kept furniture and overall appearance of the hotel.
