In short notice, we needed an overnight stay in Aukereyri. We found Hrafninn as the Cheapest! place with available room with private bath at a price of 370 Euro.!!!  We ordered the room the same day we should stay overnight.  We got information of the location of the hostel. At arrival, there were no PIN code available for our room. Nobody in the reception. We called the telephone number that we found on the wall. A person said she will come and lock us in our room. After 10 minutes waiting, she arrived, and gave us our pin code. We asked if the price included breakfast?? First she said no, but after checking it, she told us that the room was included breakfast. She told us we had to walk approx. 10 min to another Hotel to get the breakfast next morning. 
The room was in the basement, and we had to walk down a pretty steep and narrow stair. The room was ok, with private bathroom. The sofa in the room was not good to sit on It was broken, and when we tried to sit on it, we almost sat on the floor! 
There was a TV, but no remotecontrol to turn on the TV!! Next morning we walked the 10 mins to the other hotel for breakfast. She sat in the reception, and we told here we are here for the breakfast.  THEN she told us, sorry, I was wrong yesterday, the room is NOT includet with breakfast. You have to pay an extra 40 Euro for the breakfast!!   All in All. For the price of 370 Euro, we expected higher Quality, and altso she could offer us breakfast when we had been walking 10 min to get the breakfast she told us was included in the price.  Room and service was way overpriced. First and last time we stayed here.

I fully confirm the previous reviews.. comfortable bed and spacious room, excellent position, lack 1 little maintenance and breakfast is practically absent.

Self-management

To check in, go first to Hotel Akureyri at Hafnarstræti 67. You'll receive your room number and any instructions there.

It was extremely frustrating to check in because Hrafninn has a reception desk with a sign, and our booking on Chase Travel (via Expedia) noted 24/7 reception. Hrafninn does not have a website of its own, so after exhaustive searching, we found one note from a reviewer online that we should go to the other hotel for check-in. The staff member was not receptive to my feedback, even when I tried to explain that all she needed was a small sign at the Hrafninn reception desk. Her defense was that she had been texting...my foreign phone number.

Anyway, once this was settled, the room was really nice, contrary to some other reviews here. Towels were provided and amenities were very comparable to other 3-star accommodations we had elsewhere in Iceland. The setting is a charming old manor, so yes, some things have aged but they are still maintained and usable. The only other sketchy bit was our chandelier was hanging by a thread.

Final note, there is NOT free parking onsite as advertised on Expedia. The city overall offers free parking from 6pm to 9am, and there is ample street parking, but you will need to pay during business hours.

Horrible check-in process but the place was nice

We had a corner room on the 2nd floor, more spacious than expected and very comfortable bedding. Warm and cosy bedroom. We really enjoyed our time there and had a good rest. Blackout curtains were also available which helps when the days are so long.
There was some noise coming from the adjacent rooms but people were generally quiet after hours so it was not a big problem.
Check-in instructions were provided so it was not a problem not having a host meet us. And if you need anything, you can always call the number they provided and get immediate assistance.

Comfortable room and bed for a good night's rest

This guesthouse offers superb accommodation for a good price. Centrally located. All local sights and amenities are within a few minutes walking distance. Highly recommended. Offers cooking facilities. Beds are supremely comfortable. Spotlessly clean.

Excellent

Key recoveries 500m from the guesthouse. Useful staff. Spacious, decorated room with a special but friendly theme. Bedroom to be renovated. Very small kitchen not equipped enough (two additional plates only). Room ready two hours after the scheduled time. Would need a good refreshment, bathroom accessories were half broken.

Tour of Iceland

A great location, extremely large and comfortable bed and fantastic staff. Morning cafe delivered in the room on time at the combined time was a big difference. Akureyri is a city that has a store at 66 North (outlet) incredible prices worth a visit

Fantastic tastehouse

There is not much to say except that I'd always stay there again. Lovely place, great and more than friendly and attentive people/staff, best location, yummy and healthy breakfast. Looking forward to coming back in May 😉.

Home away from home!

We picked up the keys to our room at the Hotel Akuyeri. Very classy hotel and friendly receptionist. Arriving at the guesthouse that is further away: small room with locked room smell (room 2 on the ground floor) At the end, the smell of sewage in the sdb that does not pass despite the ventilation (small ventilation because there is no window in the sdb and the window of the room does not open in large). No bath products. Noisy as soon as someone passes the entrance door. The entrance to the guesthouse is not snow-covered despite the heavy snow roads. However, good bed and breakfast at the hotel (yeri special to the gauges that the acupuncturist can make).

Nice outdoor house but disappointed in our room

Stayed there for three nights during our trip. First a few things to be aware of. The guesthouse belongs to Akureyri hotel and does not have a reception, one needs to check in at the hotel which is a bit further down the road (a 5 Minute walk). Breakfast is also served at the hotel. 
The room was nicely decorated and had a decent size. The bathroom was ok but a bit small. The guesthouse also features a small kitchen for the use of the guests. Free parking is available behind the place. All in all a good place to stay.
