Third time here. Still has that 'frozen in time' feel but with the facilities of the modern lifestyle. The hosts are wonderful and pamper all the guests whenever they get the chance. Great spot to tour the Pelion from and central to the heart of the southern Pelion.

Traditional Charm

Steeped in history this place is like a museum and gives a glimpse into old time lliving as it has kept many of its original features.  Brought back childhood memories of dark stone houses with wooden floors and creaking staircases.
It's an impressive massive building like a small fortress with a lovely paved courtyard and wonderful views over the bay of Milina.
The top floor room we stayed was spacious, cool and airy on hot summer days and nights.  There were little treats at breakfast, a different one each day.   The hosts were very hospitable and charming people.  I give this place a high score not so for the amount of comfort it offers as it is not a country house hotel, but for its unbeatable atmosphere.

Endless charm

We have been going to archontiko parisis for 5 years in a row, and we are  going to go back there for the next 50 years at least.
 Ofcourse everything starts with the people, anna is such a sweet person always with a smile taking care of all the small details that make holidays perfect, and christos her husband
giving information for everything you might need from beaches to food  and other cultural or more technical aspects. Anna and Christos are the epitome of greek hospitality.
  The guest bulding radiates history, the rooms have all the neccesary amenities, maybe  not in a luxury package, but more than enough,  breakfast is great with small surprises from anna every day, who always find the time to prepare something special, as for the view is breathtaking. The combination all of these makes the price you pay  seem really low.
Lafkos the village is lovely, and you can easily find good food, social life and some cultural bonuses, (like the radio museum and the lafkos museum).Ofcourse Lafkos' trademark is his enormous square which at night becomes the center of activity. Also some lovely beaches are 15-20  min from the village.
All in all an unforgettable experience.

PERFECT HARMONY

Living at the Arkhontiko Parisis is very near to laying a naked foot on the threshold of the Garden of Eden.
Though we still speak a terrible greek, our hosts have become our friends.
How ?
Long before becoming hotel managers, they were human beings.
Yes, though rare nowadays, that species still exists.
Our hostess is sensitive, charming. She takes care of every living creature. Her courtyard offers a delightful view over the Pagasitiko, it is dotted with beautiful flower arrangements, a vine arbour protects you from the morning sun if you woke up a little late, the ancient gate is crowned by a bush of fragrant jasmin. Two lazy cats, Μαλαμος and Χαρη, roam around quietly, indifferent, yet excessively lenient towards children.
Morning breakfast offers such delights as fresh ‘λουκουμαδες’, fresh ‘χαλβας’, breads, cakes, cereals, yoghurt, fruits delicately matched like streaks of colour in a novel by Virginia Woolf.
Two great beautiful women take care of everything, from clearing the table to changing bath towels every morning and doing the laundry. 
The host is a scholar, he is well known in Lafkos as a benefactor of local culture, he doesn’t mind giving a helping hand, whether in carrying a heavy suitcase, fixing sidepieces of glasses or giving you information about any topic of greek history. 
The place is beautiful. Children there are mostly harmless, ingenuous.
Last, but not least, some guest you might encounter will offer you a guitar serenade, another one will give you the taste of some delicious italian caponata.
Of course, we are still on Earth, so a few guests might have voices straight from a reality show and an old door will occasionally squeak like a strangled bat in the heart of night but who cares such trifles, where would life be otherwise ?

A taste of honey

We have stayed twice here. The first time was with a tour company but that company no longer exist so we decided to arrange our second visit ourselves. Flying to Volos and then a hire car took us to this wonderful place to stay.
This is a former merchant's mansion set close to the centre of Lafkos. The accommodation has been refurbished in a style that fits the building. It maintains the old fashioned style but has the modern facilities that you'd want.
The views are stunning and in the summer breakfast on the terrace overlooking the Pagasitic Gulf take your breath away.  Service is wonderful with lots of little treats to make your stay here very special.
Archontiko Parisis is a very short walk from the main square where the village lives. The square comes alive in the evening with mainly local people meeting up and sharing food at the excellent restaurants/tavernas that surround the square.  The square is also a venue for frequent entertainment through the summer.  Be warned - even in summer there is a chill in the air at times but after a day in the heat this can be most welcome.
There is lots to do around Lefkas and it is a good place to base yourself if you like to walk. There are lovely beaches within a few miles and we'd suggest that a car is essential to maximise the assets of this wonderful area. The village is a no car zone so you need to park in the centre and walk to the house - the paths aren't suitable for people with walking difficulties.
If you like Greece and you like low key breaks then this may be for you.
