I have always used these reviews when deciding on my choice of hotel and often take them with a pinch of salt as people’s expectations can vary so much. They do prove useful and hence I feel it only fair I add to the library.

We stayed at the Kallithea Horizon Hotel on Rhodes for 2 weeks at the beginning of October (our second visit 9 years after our first) and can confirm many of the previous reports that you will not be disappointed spending a holiday here.
Arriving late in the evening we were given a drink and escorted to the restaurant for a late supper.  After that check-in at the hotel was super quick. 
There are numerous outdoor pools but you need to be an early riser to get a bed next to some of them however we always got a bed close to where we preferred.
There is a beach at the bottom of the cliff which was lovely to swim in, however, the sunbeds do not belong to the hotel and hence there is a daily charge.  Also, the sunbeds are close together.
We had no complaints about the all-inclusive drinks as everything we tasted was excellent and cocktails were made fresh not poured from a jug.
There are two main restaurants and the one we preferred was near the cliff edge with great views, however, at times it did get very busy and was difficult to find a seat.  The second restaurant at the top of the hotel was large but for us not as welcoming, more frantic and a little more like a canteen.  There are also 3 other snack bars if you want to eat during the day.
One night in the cliff top restaurant there was an accident when plates were dropped on the floor and it seemed like the cleaner was on hand even before the plates hit the floor, very impressive.

All staff were fantastic, really friendly.  
The hotel was spotless.  
Our room was always very clean and a good size, Air conditioning worked perfectly.  No problems at all with mozzies.

The entertainment was the best we have ever encountered at a holiday hotel with tribute acts (Abba, Beatles, Drifters to name but 3) and some outstanding classical singers.  If only hotels elsewhere had this standard of entertainment.  My only slight criticism was finding somewhere to sit.  There were always two different acts each night at either end of the hotel.
There is an animation team providing entertainment during the day.  We loved the Boules/Patang but were not great fans of the loud music that accompanied the pool-based activities.

The weather was hot and sunny and more than one could have hoped for at this time of year.   The outdoor pools were not heated and felt cold to get in but one soon acclimatised and enjoyed.  We were fortunate that the weather was so good there was no need to try the heated indoor pool.

We didn’t go on any organised trips, however did catch the bus to Rhodes town and another to Lindos.  Bus fares were very reasonable.  
The Negatives – Other than the minor issue raised above there are no negatives.  
  
Was it a great holiday – Yes.            Would I recommend – Yes, It’s a lovely friendly hotel. Book it with confidence.

Lovely Holiday, can we come back

This is hotel is the best HOTEL I have ever stayed in whilst holidaying abroad.  Very large complex, loads of swimming pools, food to die for, friendly helpful staff and fabulous entertainment, not only for adults but for kids as well.

The rooms are so clean and spacious.  Only 10 minutes by taxi to the Rhodes Town.

We visited KHR for the 13th time mid September to watch our daughter and her fiancé marry at Kalithea Springs just like we did in 2019. We travelled as a party of 36 people and all had an absolutely ball during our stay. We cannot thank the staff for their hospitality, warmth and friendship shown not just to us but to all our guests.  KHR really is a home from home for us and cannot think of anywhere we would rather spend our down time. The hotel is spotless, comfortable and welcoming. The staff are our friends and we love them all dearly hence I am not going to single out names today… you are all the very BEST and we love you all ❤️ Thank you for making our trip and the wedding perfect in every way! Ten rooms are spotless and comfortable, food plentiful, varied and tasty, views spectacular and the large grounds ensure there is always some new new to spend time in different places. And the entertainment… it’s the BEST especially the Zumba 💃🏻 We have already booked for 2024 and are on the countdown… to all our friends at the hotel have a wonderful end of season party and a happy and healthy time until we see you all again! The Best Holiday and Wedding Ever!

Our 5th holiday at this fabulous hotel.
Thanks Karolina for allocating us a room near the Mythos pool with a great view. Our room lady Marianna who has looked after us for the previous 4 holidays was there again this time and it was lovely to see her.Thanks Marianna for your kindness shown to us during our 2 week stay.
The complex is huge within lovely,well kept gardens and is always clean and tidy.Golf buggies are available especially if people have mobility issues.
Always plenty of sunbeds round the Mythos pool at anytime of the day.
Food at the Thalassa restaurant was varied but could have been hotter.
George always had our table set up with our drinks every evening which was appreciated.A big thank you to  Savvas who looked after us in the main bar.
The entertainment at both venues were probably the best we have seen - didn’t go to the Safari bar but was always very busy  when we passed with Panda ( Mr Zumba)heavily involved.
Looking forward to returning next year.



Great hotel

Negatives first - on arrival at 1am in the morning we had to wait a long time for the courtesy golf buggy to take us to our room. The complex is so huge we would never have found it in the dark. 
This is not a place for anyone with mobility issues or prams/pushchairs. There’s no lifts, long walks from rooms to restaurants, steps everywhere. My mother in law was out on the second floor even though the hotel was told in advance of her mobility problems. When we asked for a room change they couldn’t accommodate us. 
There’s no sandy beach - only rocks and grit but the sea was clear and it was fabulous for snorkelling. 
The pool bar food was strange and none of it went together to make a decent meal. Cold fish fingers and burgers but no burger buns. The ladies working there were very friendly though and always had a smile. Plenty of drinks on tap. 
Lots of flavours of ice cream too.

My wife and myself had our vacation in the kalithea horizon royal in May  2022. It was our third  vacation  at this hotel and  would have been  our fourth only for Covid.  It is the best all inclusive  hotel  we have stayed in and we have stayed in a good  few. The Location, Staff, Food ,Drink and Entertainment  are the reasons  we returned  so many times.  I would  especially  like to mention  George  the restaurant  manager,  George  the head waiter,  Dimitra in the main bar and of course  Panda the legend.  Thanks guys , looking forward to seeing you all  in May as we have already  booked  again.

In May we like our hotel Alfagar in Portugal but weather in October has taken us to Rhodes again ( third year) .
First year hotel was just ok but last year we found this wonder. 
Our room has bedroom for children shower room dressing area bathroom then bedroom for children. Please manager give a massive well done to our housekeeper. Everyday you get cleaned and always so fresh and tidy. These are the hotel heroes. 
Food is brilliant. Yes as with any all inclusive it gets a bit samey but honestly it’s always so fresh. The amuse-bouche as you enter each day are just brilliant some you love some not so. 
Everyday we ignore main pool and pitch our fav spot at the Mythos pool. All day catered for by Popi and her team that serve such nice snacks and collect empties so quick to keep it clean. I know it’s only a tuna roll but it’s just right in the heat. 
I’m the guest who likes his gin and tonic “ not too much tonic” 👍🏻
So we depart today but hope next year to return.

2nd year visit. Will be back

Having returned home after our 10th visit we have decided that it is definitely our last. 
The hotel stands in beautiful grounds.  The staff who go over and above their station and are an asset to this hotel.  This year we have seen a rise in occupancy and the staff are extremely under pressure to cope especially in the dining room.  Most evenings we were waiting for a table as there were many large families sat dining,  kids running wild in and out of the restaurant.  

There are signs up directing you to the quiet area but not quiet with the jacuzzis full of kids  There is a water park in the grounds for kids but not busy at all.  We mentioned this to the HR but nothing was done. 

Panda who is the main animation guy never walks past kids without giving them a high 5 and greeting the adults.  This year the Italian animation team were rubbish.  They never greeted the guests.  No kids club.  Total waste of money.

Tui sell this holiday as ‘platinum’ but it should be classified as ‘families’.

Stayed here for 14 nights, wasn't too impressed after our 1st 5 days but settled in and I would go back again once we climatised to our surroundings.
Our 1st night we visited Athena restaurant in the evening for dinner and I found a table at the back and as I was about to sit down a grey haired waiter barked at me not to sit there ? And told me to go up the stairs and sit there ! I was told I could sit anywhere in there once I was briefed at reception, I explained to him that it was our 1st night do we have to reserve ? He shouts go up the stairs and sit up there ! Not the welcome we was looking for and quite embarrassing as a lot of people was staring at the commotion. 
2nd night went to the main bar to watch the Beatles act, went to the bar to get a drink and was told to sit and we will be served, so we get served after 20 mins by a moody short haired lady with glasses and that was the only time we did in the 2 hours we sat there ! I tried to get her attention a few times but she ignored us so we left. 
Tried there again a couple nights later so my wife this time ordered 2 drinks each only to be told by the same rude lady that's it's not necessary to order 2 drinks each and you will only get one and made us both feel very small by telling us off ! On the next order (because she came back this time ) my wife was placing an order with her when she completely cut her off to welcome in a German couple by blowing kisses etc and starting a conversation with them and when she was finished she barks YES ! Made my blood boil ! I guess she only looks after people who tip her ? So we never returned to that bar any more during our holiday and we practically went to the safari bar where all the bar staff are lovely and the entertainment was great every night. 

George the restaurant manager was such a lovely person who took time out of his busy day to always speak to us such a great guy. 

Good gym and the guy running it was brilliant and looked after us on our daily morning visits. 

Didn't like the blue and yellow band divide, think that's down to tui but they need to sort that out as we used the beach a few times and got charged 5 euro for the use of the beds and a umbrella, where as a blue band wearer got there's for free and also food and drinks included with that ? But I'd walk up to the mythos bar ( which was a steep walk ) and get a tray of beers and some bits of food every time and walk back down,, the guy on the beach sorting the beds out etc was a nice fun fella though. 

But like I said at the beginning once we settled in and knew what we was doing and where to avoid we had a great 2nd week and we would definitely stay again.

Blue bands rule

We were here in September 22.  We have been coming to this hotel for 10 years.  The regular staff still there are amazing.  New ones not quite up to the standards. 
The food was very limited and not a patch on previous visits. First visit since covid. We queried which room was late checkout told two numbers out of the four rooms.  On day of checkout reception told us only one room ?? We also received a letter from “TUI” to say we had to be at reception an hour earlier than what was on the app as the bus would be there early to take us to airport.  With 5 children  standing in the heat was very uncomfortable.  This was obviously to get us out of the room early as the couch arrived at the original time on TUI app.
Very key down after all these years !!!

Bought a ring in Despia jewellery shop in 2019.  The stones fell out even though not worn.  We phoned during lockdown and were told not to worry they would put it right.  Yes they did put it right at a cost of 90€.  Have been home a few weeks and three stones missing 🤷‍♀️. Would definitely not buy jewellery here again
