We arrived by taxi at lunch time, we already new our room number as this was emailed to me by booking .com ,we did not see the owner until the next day, but this was not a problem, we had a lovely large studio at the front of the villa, just what we had asked for, the aircon was great there was also a safe all included in the price, the beds and fluffy pillows were good and Anna always emptied the bins and cleaned around daily. we soon found our way around the resort and to the beach, but I will say the supermarket and beach is a 5 minute walk and down a hill so might not suit if you have mobility or breathing problems, Skala is a lovely place and great value at the bars and tavernas, it is good for families and couples, but if you want lots of wild nights then go elsewhere as Cephalonia is a more reserved island.

Great Value

Booked villa Dizis through booking.com for 8 nights at the end of July/ beginning of August, the most expensive time to stay in Skala, as it was the cheapest option that looked passable. I was pleasantly surprised!!

The first impressions were not that great at all, as couldn't find the place at first, despite having lived in Skala the year before! The instructions on location aren't great, so make sure you get a good idea of where you need to be, or get a taxi, before you go. Secondly, there was no one there to check us in when we arrived. The cleaning lady (Anna, lovely!) was at the property, but spoke no English so we couldn't explain our circumstances, obviously not her fault! If you're a first time visitor to Skala after a longish flight and transfer, this would be incredibly annoying. Needs to be addressed really. We had to phone the owner, who wasn't sure who we were, as his wife handles the bookings and was away that weekend. His wife came to see us a couple of days later to make sure everything was going ok and to take payment for the room. She mentioned she'd tried to email me a couple of times, though I never received anything. Perhaps it was through booking.com. I'd already been in Kefalonia for a couple of days so hadn't even had the opportunity to check for messages anyhow. She was a very lovely Greek-American lady.

Once we'd managed to check in, after a good deal of stress, we were really happy with the room. Basic, but spotlessly clean. Everything you needed was provided. A small hob, fridge with tiny freezer, kettle, toaster. Nice little touches included dishwashing soap and a towel, which have been lacking in other studios I have stayed in, a bottle of water in the fridge, and a couple other bits to save you having to go get the necessities right away. Air con was FREE. A HUGE bonus. And it was incredibly effective, unlike most I have had to actually pay extra for. Safe was included, no extra cost, and wifi available in the rooms. The little balcony was brilliant. The beds aren't the comfiest, but it's Greece, there isn't often a soft mattress to be found. Sheets and towels were changed more often than was promised, and the cleaner Anna obviously worked really hard to keep everything up to an immaculate standard of cleanliness.

The location of the villa was brilliant, just a street off from the Main Street in Skala, less than five minutes from the supermarkets and restaurants. There isn't a pool, obviously, but there are plenty of free pool bars and hotel pools you can use along the seafront.

I really enjoyed my stay here and would definitely stay again. Only this time I would call ahead to let them know I was arriving! Wholeheartedly recommend.

Absolute Gem

Perfect accomodation in its category! We loved it very much! Very quiet (except the neighbour's young dog.. but he is growing fast hopefully) The see is a nice 5 min walk. Skala's "main"road with lots of tavernas and shops 1 min walk. (Tip: For honeymoon ask for room 4 upstairs.;)

We stayed in the two bedroom apartment for six nights. The location was very central for beaches and restaurants, but slightly off the main streets. Very handy for walking to Skala in a couple of minutes, or to the beaches either end of town.

The thing that really stood out was the great service - Denise helped us organise our journey from Athens by bus, ferry and taxi, and was there to welcone us despite our arrival being in the middle of the night. We would definitely return.
