We loved our stay at Aurich Hotel. Our room was large, spotless and best of all we had a view of the lake and town. The location is perfect, as you are between the lower and upper town. Only paid 115 Euro in high season.

Perfect location and very reasonably priced

The hotel was in a great location - close to shops, restaurants, and the lake.  It's a steep walk up, but it will connect the lower and upper regions of the town without having to walk up steps.  It is on a BEAUTIFUL street with a view of the castle. Staff at the front desk and in the hotel restaurant speak limited English - which is fine, just be prepared for a little bit of a language barrier.  We speak a little bit of German, but still had a very difficult time trying to understand their parking situation (even with a map).  We ended up paying for parking for one night at the parking garage just to be sure.  Our room was up 2 flights of stairs (no elevator).  We had a family room (1 king bed, and 1 double bed, 1 bathroom).  It was adequate and fit our needs. While it is no direct fault of the hotel, please be fair warned that there is a Musik Bar (Karaoke and Dance Bar) directly across the street from the hotel. We found the room to be a bit stuffy, and without being able to communicate that we needed a fan (even with a phone translation), we were left to open the windows to get a bit of a breeze. That was fine until about 10:00pm, and then the music started - and it went on and on.  Apparently the place closes around 2:00am - however people spilled into the streets and kept up all kinds of racket until around 4:00am.  With windows closed, ear plugs in, and a phone app running white noise, we were still unable to get rest.  I assume this only happens on the weekends (we were there Friday and Saturday).  We only had breakfast 1 day at the restaurant (8 euros per person including drink).  It was adequate, but nothing to write home about.  We chose to eat a bakery just down the street the next morning for around 15 euros for our family of 4. We would likely choose another hotel if we were to ever visit Meersburg again.  Mostly because of the noise from outside of the hotel.  We never heard or saw any other guests other than at breakfast.

Nothing to write home about...

Our room (#4) was up 2 flights of stairs. Very steep and narrow. Extremely difficult to climb. The room was tiny with very old furniture and the bathroom was unbelievably small. I asked for a larger room but the one that was available was up another level having to climb another but more difficult staircase. Parking was about 1/2 km away. If you stay here then offload your luggage in front of the hotel and then park. On a positive note the location was good, only one block from the lake. Wifi was terrible. Don't be fooled by the price. Look for another hotel.

Very disappointing.

This hotel is under new management, and we were told that Susanne, mentioned by previous reviewer, was no longer there. Our room was on the 2nd floor with a partial view of the lake. The room was small, and not my choice if we were to stay longer than one night. The hotel is right next to the old Meersburg Castle, and is walking distance to Meersburg Therme. Breakfast was basic and average quality - bread, cheese, ham, cucumbers, yellow peppers, boiled eggs, yoghurt, cereal, juice, and tea/coffee. We reserved a parking space for our rental car, and we were given a decal (worth 5 euros) for display on the dashboard. The instruction we were given (in poor English) was to park in the "P" area across the street, but we were not given detailed instruction to not park in the basement of the "P" lot, which was the only place with an available space, so we ended up paying 20 euros extra for overnight parking, and the hotel would not give us credit for the 5 euro decal, which was useless. It would be best to put down in writing in English (for those who don't have good German language command) detailed instructions about parking. Would look for other choice.

simple accommodation

My husband, 8-year-old son and I stayed at the Aurichs Hotel for two nights at the end of September. When I booked it, we were given a double room with a sleeper couch (and shower/toilet), as their family rooms were already booked. On arrival, Susanne showed us to our room, and we were very impressed with how modern and clean it was. It was also a bit more spacious than we were expecting it to be. Free wi-fi was great. Each morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast from the buffet downstairs, which includes juices, muesli, fresh fruit, rolls, cold meats and eggs. The hotel is perfectly located, in the heart of the historic part of Meersburg, close to the Castles, promenade, harbour, as well as superb bakeries and restaurants. The staff were lovely, and Susanne was particularly efficient, friendly and helpful. We enjoyed visiting Meersburg and would highly recommend the Aurichs Hotel.

"Wonderful hotel, perfectly located"

Aurichs feels more like a B&B than a hotel. The rooms are simply furnished, very clean and all necessary provisions are provided. Free wi-fi is available but could do with being upgraded. The breakfast was excellent. Fresh meats and cheeses, yogurt, fruit and breads. Boiled eggs were offered and made to order. Coffee was good too!
The location of this hotel is great, at the bottom end of the narrow main street and close to the lake, promenade and ferries. It's easy to access the walking trails through the vineyards from here too. 
The hotel offered parking at the top of the town, which gave us a good excuse to explore the narrow streets and gorgeous medieval housing this town has to offer.
