Berghotel Baader

On our return from a trip in Germany we wanted to stop and rest for a night before continuing to our Home in Italy. We found this Hotel by chance and found it very interesting. It just re-opened after a renovation and new management (ownership) The town of Heiligenberg is on top of a mountain overlooking the Lake Constance. It has a large castle prominently placed on the edge of the mountain. The Castle is privately owned but has visiting hours to tour part of the building. When we arrived we found a well appointed, newly renovated small hotel with the most friendly staff I have had met in many parts of Europe. Our rooms was spacious and well appointed. We decided to eat in the restaurant of the hotel and the food was typical local and very excellent. Everything fresh prepared and delicious. After the dinner I decided to go into the kitchen to thank the chef, only to find that the owner himself was preparing the food. Breakfast the next morning was sufficient and typically a German Breakfast. So don't expect an American of British breakfast. But it was very good. Overall, I highly recommend and we definitely will return as soon as possible.
