Villa Neugarten (together with Guter Tropfen and Renn) is the best place to stay at Lake Constance. The service is super. Beata offers you every day a big smile at breakfast and delivers all the extra's you want. She's a treasure. 
We booked the appartment which has all the comfort you need. Two seperate bedrooms, two bathrooms and a wonderfull living room. The garden is perfect for zen time but the lake is only a few minutes walk. In times like this it is a gift to swim in the beautiful surrounding. We come at the lake for more than 50 years already but never had this perfect stay. Thank you very much team Neugarten!

If you're looking for a perfect place... don't look any further

The hotel is a family run business. They have been all very kind and helpful. It is evident the place is new, modern, and very well kept. Our room wasn't huge but very comfortable with everything you might need. Breakfast consisted mainly of savory snacks, with a wide variety of bread and cold cuts, along with sweet jams and fresh fruit. 
The hotel is about 10-15 mins from the town center and very close to the lake. It was a great experience, much recommended.

A very pleasant stay

We would have loved to stay longer, but our time limited us to one night. We were so impressed with the delightful interior decoration of the hotel rooms: so cheerful and tasteful! The hoteliers' friendly reception and useful tourist tips more than compensated for the poor weather outside.We will certainly come back to this charming hotel and village.

What a lovely hotel!

With a very warm greeting from the von Sandens apon arrival we entered into a tastefully decorated, clean establishment. The bedroom was spacious and comfortable, the extensive breakfast was served by a friendly hostess, and the back terrace was the perfect place to sit and have an afternoon glass of Hagnau's local wine. During our week long stay we enjoyed our short walk into the town center as well as the close proximity to neighboring towns and, of course, the beautiful lake view. The von Sandens are simply wonderful hosts who include genuine, personal touches for their guests, creating a warm, friendly atmosphere. We loved our stay, will always remember our time there, and will definitely choose Hotel von Sanden again should we return to the bodensee. We definitely recommend!!

Wonderful Stay at Hotel von Sanden!

Hotel von Sanden was recommended by a friend and we were so pleased we chose to book his recommendation.  The hotel was situated on a quiet street about 3 rows back from edge of Lake Constance, with lovely views from room overlooking the lake.  The owners were extremely welcoming and all the staff very helpful and friendly.  The room was very well equipped, warm and spotlessly clean.  All the decorations and soft furnishings around the hotel were very nice.  The breakfast buffet was excellent and refreshments were available 24 hours in the salon.  Although this hotel does not have a restaurant there  are several very good restaurants around the area.  A stroll into the main area near the lake every evening was very pleasant.  We would most certainly return to this hotel if we are in the area again.

5 days in Hagnau

We rented "The Lighthouse" as advertised on the Hotel Von Sanden web site which is next to the lake and overlooked by the hotel.
At £237 per night (300 Euros) we expected perfection but got quite the opposite.
Firstly even though we had booked around 6 weeks earlier, we had not been told about the significant building work taking place directly next to the property.
On querying this Mr. Von Sanden went into his office, printed off the web page and highlighted the text which warned of the building site, with no regard for the fact that this was not there when we booked. He insisted the text was there but was a bit vague about it and failed to grasp that you don't book via the web site, you do it by emails and many days, even weeks can pass before you book after looking on the web site.   
After travelling 1000 miles to get there from the UK we were too tired to argue any more and decided to reassess things in 2 days on the Monday when the builders return after the weekend.
Sadly the noise was pretty horrific with the house shaking from 7.15am until 5pm making the outside terrace inhabitable and requiring the blinds closed on that side to avoid being waved at by the builders while inside the house.
There were other issues such as faulty electric blinds and hot water that wasn't warm enough to have a bath, all of which he didn't seem too intent on sorting out and presented a problem throughout our stay.
Also the house was advertised as having 3 bedroom but only 1 was made up - we like to choose which room we sleep in, we paid enough for this luxury.
Eventually he offered us 50 Euros discount per night which was better than nothing but had I been told about the site I would definitely not have bothered going.
He later told us that he had contacted those that had booked dates affected by the building work and offered them the option of a refund or 50 Euro discount so why didn't he bother to tell us?
We got the feeling that he knew we could do nothing about it on arrival having paid up front and even given a 500 Euro security deposit before we even saw the house, it didn't help not being German either as I would have immediately taken legal advice and may well still do so.
Our only redress is to post this review and warn others in the hope that your expensive special holiday isn't ruined as well.
