Party of six from Scotland arrived for an evening meal and wine. Food and service were excellent. However, when it came to paying the bill there was a big problem with the method of payment.  Although there was no indication as to which plastic payment method was accepted it appeared that only local plastic or cash was acceptable. Eventually they took a visa debit card and we left a generous cash tip. We were not alone as another young couple from the UK were having the same problem.  Afterwards an elderly gentleman who appeared to be the owner decided to rant at us in German about something which no one understood which ruined the evening completely. We had intended to return the following evening but made other plans. 

Spoiled evening☹️

This was our second visit and again it was a lovely dinner we had.
My husband had the Bauernschnitzel, I a vegetarian  Pasta dish, both delicious.
Friendly service in a traditional style restaurant, quite quaint with authentic decorations.
Definitely worth going again.

Not to be missed

Poltersdorf seems to be a quiet Mosel village however it is also a working one which led to some unsettled sleep. Otherwise the location is great to explore this wonderful part of the Mosel. The ferry across to Belstein with a larger choice of restaurants and castle is a 15 minute walk. The owners were very friendly and made us feel welcome, although some of the advice provided proved to be inaccurate. The room was comfortable although a little on the small side with no drawers for storage. Breakfast was typical German with above average choice. We ate in the restaurant one night and experienced a very good meal and wine. Parking was a little tight with 4 spaces out front and more spaces just down the road but out of sight of the hotel. We were disappointed that we had to go elsewhere to hire bikes. The guest card is very handy allowing you free bus rides into Cochem and beyond. Wifi reception very poor in our rooms despite the owners doing their best to resolve this and a booster right outside the door. Overall for what you get we would access the hotel as slightly overpriced which is reflected in the overall rating which otherwise would have been higher.

Mixed experience

This little hotel and restaurant are f the main Mosel road but better for it. You have to go and find it!! We did, and ate here twice, both times having a very enjoyable meal, in lovely surroundings looked after very well by the family in charge. A lovely place to unwind after a day walking with a a glass or two of wine.

A hidden gem

We had dinner here on a sunday evening in August; we were tired after travelling and were just looking for a place to have a meal. But this restaurant took us by (pleasant) surprise! The fish (smoked trout and 'zanderfilet') they prepared was really wonderful. All ingredients perfectly made and put together in a good balance.

The place is typically traditional Mosel-style decorated, which I don't fancy so much, but the food and the lively atmosphere (there were quite a lot of people) made up for it. Also, the dinner was not expensive at all, and this related to the quality makes me appreciate this with 5 stars.
