We stayed at the Maison de Marc for one night in 2016 and returned in 2022 for 3 nights. The new proprietor, Emma Marchadier, does a wonderful job with this small gem of a place. With only 3 rooms, it has a personal feel to it. The rooms are beautiful furnished with high quality furnishings and decor, and very comfortable beds. The bathroom is big and well equipped. A delicious and plentiful breakfast is served each day, including local products and some of Emma's own baked goods. Emma knows Poitiers well and was a great resource for restaurant recommendations and tips on things to see and do in Poitiers. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Maison de Marc and recommend it highly! Many people pass through Poitiers and may just stay one night (as we did the first time) but it's a great city to explore and enjoy over a few days, while staying in delightful accommodations. It's not teeming with foreign tourists and is a nice way to experience "real" France.

Excellent stay and host!

Nice location for a family/lovers weekend

A family of four, we spent one night at this wonderful place. Everything was perfect, well located, very friendly and helpful hosts, lovely and clean rooms and delicious breakfast. Definitely a recommendation!

Perfect place

Absolutely fantastic B&B. Clean, tidy, stylish. All boxes ticked. Breakfast was excellent, with a great homemade continental spread. Agnes was a fantastic hostess, battling English with us battling our French 🙂. Well worth the money. Will return again. 

Quick stay over 

Comfortable, spacious and stylishly decorated room with modern shower room.  Hostess could not have been friendlier or more helpful.   The breakfast was amazing, with fresh conserves, freshly squeezed orange juice and much besides.  Not inexpensive, but worth it..

Friendly, comfortable B&B in central location

We stayed here for a night en route to Parthenay and were delighted to find it is an old town house with a wonderful staircase and lovely spacious room. The breakfast was a treat of fresh fruit salad, compotes, yoghurt and a basket of local artisanal breads with fresh jams. One of the stars of the breads was the chouquettes, coarse sugar topped puffs of choux pastry. A great start to the day :)

A lovely town house to stay in

From the warm welcome through to the end of our visit, everything was perfect!

This small establishment has been renovated with taste, is impeccably clean, and offers the kind of stay which is rarely found anywhere. Absolutely everything is done to ensure a pleasant stay, and to make visitors feel 'at home'.

We simply cannot find a fault. Thank you!

Outstanding!

Poitiers, being a smallish city, has a somewhat limited choice of places to stay.  If you come here, there is - to my mind - only one choice:  Maison de Marc.  On a small side street about a 5 min taxi run or a reasonable schlepp if on foot from the train station, the exterior is unassuming: freshly cleaned and plastered walls.  But inside, as they are supposed to say in these parts, oooh la la.  There are, I think, three rooms and an apartment to rent with the rooms running just under 100 euros per night.  The apartment is a steal if you wish to stay a week, being just under 500 euros for the week.  As all other reviews state, the rooms are spiffy, chic, comfortable, spacious, clean as clean can be.  Comfortable for me is key and this hits on all points.  A deep bath lets one soak wonderfully.  Breakfast is huge with diverse breads and croissants in a basket, jams, joghurt; you waddle out of the room if you are not careful.  Excellent coffee.  The hostess, Agnes Cognard, is totally charming and though she has little English, no matter: she is adept at figuring out what her guests want and need.  You are 5 min from the town main center by foot.  Wifi (wee fee locally....) is strong and free.  This is as good as any hotel can ever be and this should be your hands down choice when in Poitiers.  Do note that payment is cash, not credit cards, however.  Just around the corner is a restaurant L'Archives which is very good and worth a visit as well for dinner.

Cannot be better.  Seriously.

I booked this B&B as we went to visit the Futuroscope attraction park   Situated in the heart of the city. We were made to feel at home. The host had thought of everything. Breakfast was a delight, served Right up from home made juice and smoothies to excellent fresh pastries and breads. The place was spotless. Wifi connection excellent. 
Won't hesitate to book again if we are in the area.
