In a great location , close to bars and restaurants

Disappointed' pics deceptive, thought it was a grand chateau but not, ensuite was a curtain around the toilet, not ideal if you are on a romantic stay, very steep spiral staircase to reception, charming host, full marks to him, the room & bed clean and comfortable, location fab, great value for money

good service with reasonable price

This is a charming hotel in a nice old building right across from the Chateau des Ducs de Bretagne. The room I had looked directly out over the Chateau. The room was clean and decorated in a pleasant and colourful style. The hotel staff was very friendly and allowed me to check into the room several hours early. The hotel's location is literally across the street from the Chateau and less than a block from the nearest tram stop. It is about a five minute walk from the Nantes train station.

Charming hotel across from the Chateau

Old hotel refurbished in bohemian style. Friendly staff make a huge positive impression. Room is spacious but some guests may be alarmed by there being nothing more than a curtain separating toilet/shower facilities from the rest of the room. Overnight stay was fine, breakfast at 7.30 a rushed affair given my schedule. Staying much longer might start to become wearing. Only real drawback: bolster only on the bed, not a pillow in sight. Oh, and narrow stairs and corridors not for the less agile.

Good overnight crash pad

I hesitated with this one - you need to go through a corridor and speak on the intercom, then go upstairs - but, it has been in Le Routard for at least 3 years, so I decided to give it a go. It is a lovely budget hotel on several floors (no lift). The rooms are decorated in red and gold. The windows are double-glazed (or it might have been noisy). The receptionist was really helpful - including lending me an umbrella against the pouring rain. I left too early for breakfast, so cannot comment on it, but would be happy to stay again. It is very popular - it became full while I was there and had to turn away guests despite in being October.
