This was our third year staying at this lovely place. We go there for a complete break and thanks to Florence and Stephan this always works for us. We leave, after a week or 10 days in our gite, thoroughly refreshed and restored. This year there was the added bonus of the restored four de bois in the courtyard and Michel's wonderful bread (and croissants and brioches!) on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Where we go to unwind

Great place to stay, Stefan and Florence made us feel very welcome from the minute we arrived and were always on hand to give us advice about the local area. Rooms clean, lovely breakfast and enjoyable wine tour. Definitely recommend!!

Brilliant. Wonderful start to the holiday. 

La Maison Chaudenay is a large property comprising several buildings set on a few acres of well maintained grounds with beautiful trees in a quiet little village in France. There is a friendly local pub and a new boulangerie. We stayed here in 2010 when the owners, Bruce and Anne, were outstanding hosts. We loved it so much we returned a couple of years later, not realising that the property had changed hands. Although Bruce and Anne set an exceptionally high standard, we still enjoyed our stay with the new owners, so when we returned again in June, 2017, with new owners yet again, we did not know what to expect. Happily, the current owners, Stéphane  and Florence, are making their mark on the property. With an extensive knowledge of the history of the property, Stéphane exudes a passion for developing the property with its old wine press, cellar and bread-making ovens in operation again! Florence also helped to make our stay very enjoyable. This property is well-situated to spend a week or two in the most beautiful part of France where you can walk, cycle or drive amongst world famous vineyards, enjoy local produce from the markets or visit some of the many excellent restaurants in nearby villages.  The property offers both B&B or self-catering. We have always stayed in the well-appointed, two bedroom apartment which is very spacious and private. It now has a TV and the wifi works well. The larger cities of Beaune and Dijon are relatively close but anything you need can be purchased at the nearby town of Chagny. For us, this is France at its best.

A holiday in the vineyards

With friends we stayed one night, excellent accommodation and by arrangements a delicious evening meal and breakfast. The owners since autumn 2016 have embarked on a new life away from the city and cherish the great Masson and its remarkable historical significance. Rare C15 wine press and interesting garden with 150 year old trees Sequoia and Honey Locust. Both owners were charming and the service excellent.
Highly recommended for a very peaceful quiet stop or stay over in Burgundy. 

Historic house reveals new life and historical context 

Ever wondered what it is like to stay in a well-preserved heritage building with a 300 year old giant seqoia tree in a sprawling 6 acre private woodland park and a tastefully furnished self-catering apartment? Maison Chaudenay is all that and more..surely, a magical place that must NOT to be missed at all by anyone visiting the Burgundy region.. Highly recommended without any hesitation good value for money..

A building with character.. and good value

When I booked this, it was advertised and promoted as a B&B, upon arrival when enquiring about breakfast the French owners explained that as they both work fulltime, they don't do breakfast, not even a starter 'breakfast basket' was provided, so the property is no longer a true B&B.  While the owners are lovely people and went out of their way to help us, with local suggestions for dining, wine tasting, wine purchasing and like collection at the Beaune train station and then drop off 2 weeks later when we left, we were disappointed with La Maison Chaudenay.  Compared to the photo's that are published, it looks tired now.  Little things that you take for granted when staying in a B&B, were overlooked, like running out of toilet paper, kitchen paper towels, hand soap, shower gel, tea towels that on first inspection looked dirty - we washed them, but they were permanently stained, and a shower recess that was not 100% clean.  Overall they need to re-focus.  Would we stay here again, afraid not.
