We arrived early and we had a great reception and a ver warm welcome even though we arrived mid morning. Madame was totally charming and very helpful. Rooms are not huge but very clean and in a great location. Thoroughly recommend for groups of friends and also for families. Superb hotel and superb location.

Spotlessly clean with a great location.

We were so pleased and surprised by this little hotel, 2 mins from the smaller swimming beach in Biarritz. It was a really good location in the middle of the town  

The hotel manager could not have been more friendly and helpful, taking the time to provide us with a map (unasked) when we arrived and mark all the useful places. He was also happy to give us a hairdryer and provide beach towels for our stay at no extra charge and made sure we had a taxi on time to catch our train.  

Our room was upstairs at the front, a bright, very clean and spacious room with a big, comfy bed, lovely modern bathroom and great shower. The whole hotel was bright and nicely decorated. The rooms looking over the small garden area at the back looked slightly bigger and might be a bit quieter if you wanted that. 

Personally we liked looking out over the road (not busy) and Bar Basque opposite. One evening there was some nice live music in the bar and we enjoyed listening to it from our room before we went out to dinner. (It did not go on late or disturb us)

Breakfast was a standard but perfectly acceptable continental breakfast served in the small bright breakfast room (croissants, bread, jams, juice, tea/coffee). I can’t vouch for the quality of the coffee as we didn’t have it.   There is a small outdoor area where you can eat breakfast if the weather is good. And there is a very smart patisserie/ coffee shop right next door if you want to do your own thing. 

We had a perfect stay here and all in all we felt the cost represented very good value for money. We would love to come back and stay here again.

A little gem by the sea

A small but very well located hotel close to the beach and shopping streets of Biarritz. Room was very clean and comfortable, however extremely small even for one person which it was not a big deal for me as stayed in only for sleep and take shower but for two people and with luggage just would not be good.
Lady on check in was friendly and the hotel itself modernized.

The only downside beside the space issue is there is no fridge in the room - not sure if none of the room has.

Overall, I think it is a small, clean reasonable priced hotel. I would choose again if I returning to Biarritz.

Clean, reasonable hotel in city centre

Lovely room with nice beds and good bathroom facilties. Sweet and help full staff and. We could not hear the noise from the street even though the hotel is located in the heart of the city. Nice breakfast available for a good price.

Amazing service, perfect location and cheap price

Perfectly located in a funky part of Old Town within a block of the most wonderful beach in the Old Port of Biarritz. There are other beaches either side of extended rock formations but the beach at the end of the street is by far my favorite. Annie and Alain are wonderful and accommodating hosts who can provide you with a generous breakfast and all manner of help with other things if required. Our room was clean and comfortable and pleasant to be in but not particularly large. The price was reasonable and, on the scale of possibilities, low compared to many competitors. Many good restaurants were just outside the door and the market Halle was a very short walk away. We were very very pleased to spend a week there in that great neighbourhood.

I would have given a rating of 5 stars were it not for two possible distractions one might find. It does not have air conditioning, only a fan, and the rooms are warm when it is hot outside. Opening the windows offers great relief except for the street noise which, depending upon what's happening in a couple of nearby outdoor bars, can be disruptive for sleeping. If you don't need the windows open, then the room is quiet with its triple (?) glazing. Le Saphir also offers a good elevator and an outdoor enclosed terrace at the back.

Annie seems to know her way around several languages so you are not likely to have problems communicating.

Le Saphir and Biarritz in general stole our hearts so I can recommend both to all.

Lovely hotel and owners

I returned from a 3 night stay here last week and only wish I'd booked to stay longer. This hotel is a small and friendly establishment whereby nothing is too much trouble for the staff/owners. I stayed in a double comfort room which was at the back of the hotel overlooking the small garden, as rooms at the rear are quieter. Despite being small they have a good choice of rooms including single, twin, triple, double and comfort double. The location is excellent and only 2 minutes walk from the small but safe town beach, and mid-way between the vast surfing beach of Plage De La Cote Basques to the west, and the busier Grande Plage beach to the east - both fantastic if you like beach walking, but the seas here can be very rough. Hence the reason that Biarritz is known as the surfing capital of Europe. I loved both the city - which has a complimentary bus service to ferry you round the town - and this gem of a little hotel, to which I shall definitely be returning. Thank you Annie for all your help!

An excellent little hotel in a brilliant location.

Great location close to the beach. Many shops, restaurants and bars nearby. Staff friendly. Breakfast is ok but i preferred getting some things elsewhere as was just some bread, croissant and coffee. A bit expensive for what you get but I guess that’s Biarritz. I had the room right near reception so was a bit noisy with people coming and going inside and outside. I wish there had been a refrigerator in the room. Couldn’t really buy anything to eat or drink and keep in the room. Was clean though always.
