Summer Hostel Joutsen Tampere

This is a lovely hostel less than five minutes walk from the University in Tampere and less than ten minutes walk from the railway station and the bus station. I was lucky enough to stay here for almost two weeks in August, my friend was studying at the University on Summer School and as he has several disability issues we required a special room with an easy access shower on the ground floor. Our room had two single beds with a bunk bed available for a third person, there was also a small but practical kitchen space in the room with a fridge and sink, we chose not too cook onsite and ate out most days locally. Our bedding was regularly replaced and the room was quiet nearly all the time. The friendly staff and particularly the manger/owner Pia helped make this a fun, interesting and welcoming trip. We were given information on things to explore and suggestions for days out. Our luggage suitcases were delivered using a student courier service and the hostel very very kindly looked after this until our arrival. There is a small but practical list of rules that need to be followed and as this hostel welcomes students from all over the world, Some of these might not seem obvious to the inexperienced international traveller. If I were helping my friend to travel to study again in Tampere I would more than be happy to return to this hostel as I can't say enough nice things about it.
