the rooms was mediocre but for the price we payed was more than ok. They have to make some small renovation in the room interior, mattresses  and beds could be better.

Good experience overall

My travel companion and I arrived in Ohrid in mid-June intending to stay three nights but had not booked ahead.We looked at three lots of accommodation but two did not have three consecutive nights available and the other we found to be a little pricey and pokey.  One of the kind ladies who could not accommodate us directed us to our saviour, the fabulous Ljupco, a real character with a genuine twinkle in his eye and a clear understanding of customer service.  It was a  pleasure to meet him.  He also runs the nearby excellent Gladiator restaurant.
Our accommodation at Villa Forum was extremely spacious, well appointed, very clean and in immaculate condition, with a large balcony and good views. It was also excellent value for money and I write as someone who more often stays in hostels. We found it to be quiet, comfortable and in a very good location.  It is away from the hustle and bustle of the more commercial parts of Ohrid but close to the Gorna Porta, Roman amphitheatre and castle.

Good Location, Excellent Value

When you plan a quick and memorable get-together with an old friend residing in Ohrid, a group of four staying for only a night, all you need is no-hassle arrangement in a good location and worry-free time to maximize your experience. This is exactly what we got from Ljupco, and more - a very hospitable family, excellent facilities, cozy and peaceful villa, with a great treat in their nearby Gladiator restaurant. Staying for only one day before the season starts you may experience difficulties finding a nice and affordable retreat - but Villa Forum is all you need. Excellent quality for a very reasonable price. One of the crew members enjoyed it so much, he made a booking for a long weekend with his family members one week later, only to enjoy Ohrid a bit more and relax with the hosts. We will come back for sure!

A place to enjoy and see.
the extraordinarily blue waters of its eponymous lake, Ohrid enjoys a stunning position that is best viewed from a boat.

From there you will see the town’s terracotta roofs broken up by centuries-old church spires (the city claims once to have had 365) and overlooked by the turreted walls of Car Samoil’s Castle.

Ohrid has transformed itself from Macedonia’s religious centre to its busiest holiday resort and its beaches are the best by far in this landlocked nation.

You need to be there - A place I will be back to.

Lake Ohrid is pretty quiet this early in the season so we were the only guests. Place is close to the gate & amphitheater. Rooms are clean & bright. We were never able to get the heat to work, but, unlike most of the hotels on our trip, everything else worked as it should. There was a misunderstanding about breakfast timing  but when we got it it made a fine lunch!

Great Spot

Villa Forum is a small B&B located near the north gate and amphitheatre - this is more or less 'on top of the hill' for Ohrid. This location is excellent for visiting the amphitheatre, castle and several other historical sites in Ohrid, but it is a brisk walk up from 'downtown' where most of the restaurants and such are located. A small supermarket is right next door, however. 

The appartments come with private bathrooms, your own fridge and a private patio or balcony. Free wifi is also available, as well as AC and heating. The 4 appartments on the ground floor share a little kitchen where you could cook a small meal, or make coffee/tea and such. Breakfast is not included in the price, although it seems to be available for 3 euros per person. 

Staff is a bit difficult to locate: you need to ring a doorbell right of the main entrance and they will come to meet you - this took some time however. Since the front door is locked this is a bit awkward, but once you get your keys you are free to go and leave as you please. 

Payment proved to be a bit of a hassle as the owner had to go and find change. It all worked out and we paid the price agreed upon though - it may be a good idea to have the exact amount on hand (either in euros or denars) to avoid this. 

Rooms are very clean, as is the shared kitchen space. Due to the location it's very quiet at night, and there are blinds to totally block out the early morning sunlights so sleep quality is excellent.

Spacious, clean rooms with a nice patio

Villa Forum has a great location just near the Upper Gate in Lake Ohrid.  We were met by Klement, the owner's dad, a retired architect and widower of only a few days.  We stayed chatting with Klement for some time about his life and travels in the UK 40 years ago.  We stayed in the Venere room which had an outdoor eating area and mini balcony and very good A/C.   (free computer access with internet connection too in the common area outside our room).  Great dinner at Restaurant Sventa Sofija just down the road. Klement brought us grapes to start the day and then commenced our walking tour of Ohrid.  Happily, the first two stops, the Upper Gate and the Forum were just on our doorstep (literally).  Klement sorted us out with inside information on bus connections to Montenegro the next day (which didn't appear in any guidebooks etc).  We had a good, relaxing stay and hope that Klement  gets many more visitors.
