This is my favorite spot in all of Ethiopia.  It was my second stay at this hotel and proved to be as special as the first.  The beds are comfortable and there was plenty of hot water for a shower.  The view from the balcony is extraordinary with crows, eagles and hawks flying at by.  The morning coffee was delicious and everyone was extremely accommodating and kind.  I highly recommend.

Top twelve hotel was all and more than I was expecting. The warm welcome, hospitality and all round comfort were outstanding. I am a solo traveller from UK and recurved all the support and guidance I could have wished. Thank you to the very lovely owner and staff.

Lastly, they helped us organize a tour of Lalibela with Tade (Tadesse Tenaw). He has to be the best guide in Lalibela! He was the main reason our time was so enjoyable. Tade knew lots of people throughout the town, was able to answer every and any question about the town, churches, and Ethiopian culture. He also helped organize random requests such as having traditional coffee, substituting the car for a Tuk Tuk/rickshaw, visiting the Saturday market, adding/subtracting things we were interested in. He also seemed to take us to more places other tourists were not going to be able to attend the Sunday mass or see more of the churches, tunnels, etc. Highly recommend Tade as well!

Highly recommend Top12 and Tade!

We recently visited Lalibela and we spend 3 nights and 4 days there. We were received with a huge hospitality and the entire staff were friendly,easy going and very much welcoming. We effectively used the time we had visiting  all hewen churches in lalibela, travelling to Yimerhanekirstos monastry ,and the most splendid one was our visit to 'Hudad' which was a true adventure(we recommend this to someone who likes hiking and not afraid of heights). We used our last day  to visit Neakutole'ab monastry on our way back to the airport. It was such an amazing and beautiful experience and we recommend you to contact Melese who was the best tour guide we had as per the recommendation of the hotel owner(which we are grateful for). In terms of room,the rooms are exactly as the pictures you see here,very neat and a remarkable view! Food,as it was the fasting season for us, we had limited choices but we had a very nice ethiopian stew called "shiro" and we also tried sphagetti and both were good.

Very nice hotel, clean, in a nice part of Lalibela. Good value for money, nice rooms and amazing views!
Don’t worry about safety or electricity issues. Lalibela is very safe and hotels are managing to provide services using alternative energy sources.

Very nice hotel, great hospitality

I visited Top Twelve Hotel in Lalibela for a quick weekend trip to visit the Lalibela churches. This hotel was really great. The room was spacious and comfortable, and with the most amazing view from the large balcony. The staff was friendly and service-minded, and it was such a treat to have breakfast served outside right on the cliff-side with the spectacular view of the Lalibela surroundings. Can definitely recommend.

Great hotel with perfect location and view

Friendly and nice hotel at an excellent spot in Lalibela. The owner replied fast, organized what I needed and offered a nice but small breakfast (terrace/Table outside is a little bit limited and not very appealing. Especially my guide Indie (WhatsApp +251 93 237 1752) I would like to recommend. He is extremely helpful, friendly and knowledgeable. Great value for money.

Nice hotel, great comfort and good value for money!

Excellent boutique hotel on top of the mountain with beautiful and unhindered views of the Lalibela valley. Very caring owner-manager, great guide (Sami), delicious Ethiopian and international food, very professional client orientation and service. 

Overall an excellent experience. Highly recommended

Exceptional stay 

I've been here many times. Clean, friendly, spectacular views, and internet which is acceptable. Can't ask for more.

This was one of the best hotels on our trip through Ethiopia. Big, clean room, good private bathrom with a well working shower (hot water). Every room has its own terrasse; the hotel also has a terrasse where you can order food and drinks and enjoy the sunset.
The staff (reception) was extremly helpful, honest and friendly and organised us a drive to Mekele.
All in all we had the feeling of being welcome - contrary to most other places in Ethiopia.
I can recommend staying here!
