I stayed one night at Los Orishas Hostal and the service, the room the whole environment was great ... Luly the lady who works there was very nice to us ... I will Come back again.. the only thing they need to change is the plugging for charging the phones... the rest amazingn

Very friendly and cosy place to stay.  They have about 6 private rooms, lots of hammmoks and a nice roof top common area where you can sea the waves.
The room has its own private bathroom and is very well decorated. They even have a net in the bed. There is a fan, which for me was enough.
The room is cleaned everyday.
There is water to drink for free available all the time. 
Recommend it.

This was one of our favourite places in Ecuador.
Ayampe is so much nicer than the places nearby (Montañita, Puerto López etc) and this Hostal is really nice - basic, but clean and spacious rooms with clean private bathrooms with hot! Water

It is extremely quiet and you hear the sea when falling asleep.
The breakfast is huge and good, but optional, which is nice.

Good value for money

I stayed here two nights and I could have easily stayed a week. The room was really spacious and clean with nice hot shower. They have nice grounds to chill out in including a little hidden balcony which looks out over the ocean which was really nice to chill out in. They also run a really nice Italian restaurant with fantastic pizza.

The breakfast was extra and it was delicious. 

The only thing I would say is in my room I couldn't connect to wifi which really is insignificant but if they fixed that problem I think I wouldn't have anything to say.

Really enjoyed my stay and would definitely recommend. Vladimir knows what he is doing and he helped me very much is getting to and from Ayampe. He is a gentleman.

Came here for dinner on recommendation. Very nicely laid out with tablecloths and flowers on the table. Menu in English and a choice of pasta, pizza and local dishes.
The pizza I vote was large and thin with an average amount of topping on it. I had a beer with it and for 2 pizzas and a beer it came to $27 which is ok value in the area. The best thing about this place is the ambience and dining area - lovely.

My wife and I stayed at Los Orishas for two nights over a long holiday weekend. The hostal and restaurant are run by two Italian gentleman who are quite delightful! Unfortunately, it slowly misted and drizzled the entire time we were there (pretty typical of November in coastal Ecuador), which seriously curtailed our walking about in the town of Ayampe. The room we stayed in was on the ground floor and was rustic and comfortable, but if you're looking for luxurious this is not the place. The bed was a little thin but I slept okay...my wife had more trouble with it. Shower was hot, and after some adjusting of the shower head it produced a satisfying flow of water. WiFi in the room was almost non-existent...you need to go to the lounge area or restaurant to get useful WiFi coverage. There is quite an extensive collection of DVDs to use if you get frustrated with the WiFi (at least a hundred). The grounds of the hostal are rustically beautiful...we enjoyed taking many pictures of the wide variety of plants and birds (hummingbirds, too!) around the hostal and in the courtyard. Los Orishas is located just across the lane from the Ayampe lagoon, a wetlands area formed at the mouth of the Rio Ayampe. Good opportunities for photos of cranes, egrets, herons, ducks, geese, and other birds. 

The beach is about a hundred meters down the same lane. It is not a swimmer's beach...it is known for surfing. It is a wildly beautiful, mostly undeveloped beach that is expansive at low tide but almost nonexistent at high tide. It is, however a long beach...you can walk along its length to the next two communities to the north (Las Tunas and Puerto Rico) for many kilometers.

The best part of our stay at Los Orishas was the food, which was incredible. Breakfast is served from 8:30 - 10:00, and it consists of eggs, three slices of crusty Italian toast (baked on-site), mora jam, fresh fruit of the day, and fresh jugo of the day. The coffee is quite remarkable...which is saying a LOT...it is difficult to find even good coffee in coastal Ecuador. My wife and I drank two pots each day! Lunch is not served at the restaurant, much to our sadness...or we may not have left the grounds! Dinner at Los Orishas is not to be missed. They are well-known in the surrounding towns for making fabulous pizza and this reputation played out in our experience. The restaurant opens at 7PM, and we were there at 6:55 due to hunger. By 7:05 both nights, the place was full and the lounge area was full of people waiting to be seated. At least 80% of the patrons ordered the pizza, which was of course quite a good choice.  The make 10-15 different pizzas and there are vegetarian options, so there's something for everyone. All are thin crispy crust, the sauce is wonderfully flavorful, and the cheeses are just right. There are eight slices and the diameter of the pizza is between 40-45 cm. Most people were eating one pizza themselves.  NOTE - if you just order the pizza, you are missing the magic of the chef at Los Orishas. The entrees that we had on our second night at the restaurant (gnocchi with four cheeses and tagliatella pasta mari e monte) were the best Italian dishes that either of us have ever had...and we have eaten at MANY Italian restaurants in our lives.  Certainly come to Los Orishas for the pizza - it is worth the trip. But if you never order one of the entrees -- that's your SIGNIFICANT loss. :)

Comfortable room in a surfer community...FANTASTIC food and grounds!

I was GRANDPAcking in Ayampe for 4 nights.
I booked myself into the Los Orishas (on the northern side of town) … it was 50 metres from the beach.
I booked a Double Room (single occupancy) at a discounted rate of US$19 / night (which included 12% tax). 
For another $4 / night I included the optional Breakfast. 
It was low season and the place was very 'relaxed'. When I arrived there was no-one there and I sat and waited in the lounge area for over an hour (even though I was there AFTER the stated check in time).
My room was above average size.
It had some furniture.
It had a coat rack on the wall but no wardrobe (so, out came my washing line again!).
It had a good sized ensuite.
The shower had plenty of hot water (which, at this time of year, is almost a necessity).
Outside was an hammock with a view out over the garden.
Breakfast was served in the restaurant. For US$4 (in Ecuador) I have had better value for money.
The Free WiFi was good and good enough to stream video most of the time.
My room felt ‘damp’.
THere was no-one around to do the 'housekeeping'.
