We ended up staying here for a total of almost 2 weeks. We would stay here and then check out to go do treks in the jungle, but then always return to this hotel. The property is beautiful, kept in perfect condition. Everything is very clean, there is always hot water. They have a free baggage storage service, that's nice. The staff were all very friendly, helpful. The kitchen is well stocked, lots of pots and pans, dishes etc. There's a nice outside area where you can sit and enjoy a view of the city. Because we kept checking in and leaving and coming back, we got to stay in a total of three rooms, all the rooms that we have seen were really nice. All of them are out of direct sunlight. All the rooms are very spacious. One nice thing is that they ask that you keep your shoes just outside the main entrance, but you can walk around in sandals. This is part of why the floors and everything else are so clean and beautiful. And it also establishes that you can trust the place, your stuff is safe sitting out by the door. The hostel is maybe 15 minutes walk away from the main part of the city, it's just removed enough so that you don't have the noises of the city around you and it's peaceful. It has a really great view over the city, there are some little shops and restaurants just a couple minutes walk away. We really enjoyed our stay here and if we come back, we will definitely stay here again and recommend it to our friends.

Perfect place to stay in Tena

Very nice and clean hostel. Breakfast is really good. Terrace has a nice view and it’s a great place to hang out and relax. I wouldn’t really recommend to reserve an appartement instead of a room. The rooms are cleaner and nicer. Overall very good place to stay at. They also organise tours which are nice and highly recommended!

Nice and relaxed stay

I arrived, not exactly knowing what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. The spectacular views are paralleled, the staff was gracious and friendly. Breakfast was tasty with a voice of scrambled or fried eggs. Get a room with a balcony! I highly recommend this place and expect to stay here, again. Nashley is a wonderful hostess and Indira is charming. They will arrange amazing tours and expeditions. An overall delightful experience!

Exceptional, a Hidden Gem

Really fantastic hostel. Some reviews criticize the location but the location is incredible with 10/10 views. It's only 500 metres from the road or a $1.50 taxi from the city centre.  Our room (Yura) had an incredible view I'd expect to pay $100 for, not $15. Great kitchen, nice gardens and lounge, small bar, laundry service, real hostel info about the whole region available, book library. All in all, one of the best places we've stayed in south America in 4+ months. Posted January 2022!

Incredible views, lovely nature, fantastic hostel

I stayed for 6 nights at this wonderfull hotel with an unpresidented view over the town and mountains. The owner and the staff are so friendly and gave the best service.
The jungle tour i took was 10/10! Fausto the guide really knew his stuff and was super friendly and helpfull. I can recommend Tena Naui for sure! Taxi only $1,50 from the toen up the hill. Super Nice kitchen and also a great breakfast for only $ 3,00.

The hotel was great, the staff was very helpful, the location is perfect if you want to be near from the city but not in the hectic of the city. We booked the tour 3 offered by the hostel, Fausto, our guide, was extremely interesting and the kindest man ever. Thank yoy very much for the stay!

Great hostel and great tour with Fausto!

We had a good stay at Naui. The hostel is beautiful & has a great view overlooking Tena. We also did the 1 day jungle tour to Misahualli through the hostel with Fausto who was an excellent guide, the tour was fascinating and Fausto’s enthusiasm and good sense of humour combined with his great knowledge of la selva ensured we had an amazing time. 10/10 gracias Fausto and Hostel Tena Naui

Great Jungle Tour with Fausto

It wasn't perfect, but for $7 each and a kitchen we could use, it was great. The hostel was pretty quiet, despite there always being  lots of travelers to meet. It's a little separate from the town, which was nice and helped with noise. We usually walked down into town  then took a $1.50 taxi back up. Some taxis will try to overcharge you if you're white, so be clear and say the hostel name and $1.50. Don't ask how much. The view was gorgeous. Beware, our room smelled slightly of mildew, they sometimes ran out of drinking water, your shower may be cold, and if it's a Saturday night, the other houses near by may be partying until late. That being said, most hostels don't have water, always have cold showers, and usually smell musty. Saturday nights in Ecuador are always crazy no matter where you are. So that's why I'm still giving it five stars because it worked really hard to meet your needs within it's reach. 

A note on tena itself:
Although there are many places to eat, none of them stood out. I recommend just getting ingredients in town then utilizing the kitchen at the hostel. Produce is best at the little local stands, other supplies from the Tia. 
There are tons of day trips that can be done, so don't feel like you have to do one of the multiday tours the tour companies will try to sell you. We did a beautiful hike out to a waterfall (with a great swimming hole) and we explored the Laguna azul. Both places were easily accessible by cheap buses.

A beautiful, calm place with a kitchen!

We got a beautiful private room with a private bath for $14 per night total for 2 people. That includes free drinking water and the use of a community kitchen with a refrigerator, freezer, tons of pots and pans, and 4-burner stove. It's a 15 minute walk downhill to the center of Tena including the bus stations and supermarket. The taxi ride back up is $1.50. They were very helpful and the location of the hostel makes it very quiet and a great place to sleep.  The porch is beautiful and includes tables hammocks, and a TV.  I can't recommend it highly enough!  I heard very good things from other travellers about the guide, Fausto, who works with the hostel and takes people into the Amazon - but we did not get the chance to do it.

Amazing value

This is a great hostel to stay. The views of Tena from the patio is great. They have Hammond lounge chairs to relax. The owner and the staff are friendly and efficient. They can arrange for rides, taxi if you ask them. Continental breakfast is great and the kitchen is well equipped to make your own food. Some rooms may not  have a view so ask for a room with a view.
