I've made a reservation for 3 days to stay in here, they confirmed and everything was correct, but when I arrived they didn't even open the door, they left me alone in the dark street. ABSOUTELY RUDE MALE WORKER, didn't even be sympathetically with me, told me that he was going to open the door at 6am, which meant waiting in the street all by myself for 6 hours, this experience was really dangerous because I just arrived from the bus terminal with all my stuff and packages and this hostel is placed in a really isolated and dark street.
AVOID THIS PLACE IF YOU'RE A SOLO GIRL TRAVELER.

My friend and I stayed in several hostels in Baños during January 2021, the best of which was Hostal Princesa Maria. We felt extremely welcome by the staff. All COVID-19 protocols were followed, and the family-friendly atmosphere made us feel safe and comfortable throughout our stay. As two young females living alone in Ecuador, my friend and I had a bit of a rough experience, and the hostel staff was more than happy to help accommodate us. Even though the kitchen was closed for the pandemic, the staff allowed us to store all of our grocery items from another hostel. When my friend began to feel sick, the staff provided great advice and showed much concern for my friend (even giving us a huge discount on our stay!!! Thank you so much). 

More than anywhere else in Baños (and in Ecuador) did we feel supported at this hostel, not to mention the fact that our private rooms were IMMACULATE. Great wifi, hot showers, high standards of cleanliness... etc. The garden view was lovely, and the location was perfectly situated (close to the heart of town, but on a quieter street that allowed us a good night's rest). In non-pandemic times, I'm sure that this hostel would be full of kind, good-hearted travelers, as it seems that this is the atmosphere that Princesa Maria attracts. Even during the pandemic, it was a perfect, quiet, and clean place to stay. I HIGHLY recommend!

My experience at Princesa Maria Hostel was the best

The hostel is very comfortable, quiet and clean, it has a great space, hot water, free WIFI and the rooms are big and beautiful, it is a nice place to go with family or friends. It is not a party hostel, but we stayed there and did many activities such as rafting and ziplinning, the weather in the city was amazing, and if you crave for Ecuadorian food or high cuisine this city is your spot.
The people who work at the hostel are very friendly and provide good service, though their reception is closed at night, during daytime there is always someone there ready to help you. There is no garage, but you can find it two blocks from the hostel, though the owner said the next time we go there we could tell him to book a garage spot for us. 
Something important to remember, is that once you make your booking-online, be sure to call the owner so you could pay for the room and block it for your use, it was great to know we had a place to stay for sure, they even sent us their position in google maps. 
They have great advices for tourist attractions, restaurants and bars, but after a full day of activities I barely could get ready to dance, so I stayed in my room (hot shower and youtube videos made my night). 
Of course there are many other fancy and more expensive recommendations for hotels  or hostels in Baños, but the relation of price and quality this hostal is unbelievable, if you are looking for a calm and friendly place to stay Princesa Maria is your spot.

Review of a Princesa Maria Hostel

Hello everyone, I want to tell you about my experience at the Princesa María Hostel. This hostel is very cozy and has a beautiful view, it is a very quiet and spacious place, the rooms are comfortable and very clean. The owners are very friendly and profesional, they recommend the best places to visit. It is an excellent place to rest after a day of adventure. I recommend it.

Excellent service and experience in Princesa María Hostel

If you want a place to rest and get away from the everyday noise, visit Hosteria Princesa Maria, it is a comfortable, cozy, quiet, clean place; the service is first class from the moment you arrive, they treat you with cordiality, they make you feel at home, the rooms are spacious, private bathroom, hot water, wifi, its price is affordable; What there is not is a parking space but there was no problem, we rented everything safe nearby, in the same way we enjoyed with my friends and we appreciate the hospitality we received from their owners. We recommend that you visit it.

QUALITY TIME

We went to visit the city with 4 friends and we stayed here. The hostel is very beautiful and comfortable, the rooms are very clean and cozy, it has excellent services such as wifi and hot showers with perfect pressure. The staff is very friendly and takes the time to explain the activities that you can do in Baños. It does not have a parking area, but there is no problem because there are many parking lots nearby. The Hostel is next to the city centre and you can get there walking without any problem. This is not a party hostel so it is very quiet and pleasant, I recommend it.

Quiet and Pleasant.

It's gratifying to have stayed in Princesa Maria. One of the best hostels we've stayed in with a group of friends. It is a family owned place, the service is very special, once you get there you feel at home, it is very cozy and safe if you need to get away from noise or crazy party places, they are very strict regarding noise, but you may go out and return at any time (quietly though :-)). The hostal is not far from several great restaurants and nice bars, and it was ideal as Baños has so many activities and extreme sports to do, that partying became secondary to us. Princesa Maria is not expensive, one of the small drawbacks that does not detract much from its appeal is that it doesn't have parking.  I also recommend to book it in advance and pay the fee so the owners and/or manager could block your room. We felt safe as one of the rules forbids inviting people from outside or throwing parties in your room or facilities, trust me after a full day of rafting and ziplinning you do not want to be bothered by loud people. There is always someone at the reception. Remember if you have the opportunity to visit Baños and you are looking for a nice and calm place to stay I recommended this hostel. My best regards to the owners.

Home Sweet Home

The hotel is located a little away from the centre, but this is not too bad, as everything can be reached on foot.
The staff is very friendly and takes the time to explain everything in detail and to show the activities of Banos.
The rooms are spacious and clean. 
All thisfor a very low price. Highly recommended.

Helpful, clean, inexpensive

I stayed here for 5 nights and Victor was very helpful in booking tours and explaining the city. The prices he named were always 5 USD less than the tour operators. The hostel is quite busy at the weekend but I had the room for myself during the week. The location is good, 5 minute walk to the city. So it's also more quite than directly in town. 

Perfect for exploring Banos and the surroundings

We stayed 2 nights in the rooftop matrimonial suite. Victor was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean too, a bit dark because of the big curtains, but cosy. A bit more space to put/hang your stuff would have been practical. We are a couple so the size of the bed was okay, but for friends it might be too small. The decoration is colourful and the walls are brightly painted. Overall we enjoyed our stay, big pluses were the nice atmosphere, the hospitality and how spotlessly clean it was!
