Korsør Vandrerhjem Svanegården is at time of writing the only ’hotel’ in Korsør! Strange. It is hidden behind the sports centre, and it is ‘just’ a hostel. By a nice one run be a very kind couple – you see their pictures on the website.

It as - a hostel quite basic – but it is clean, every thing works, and the beds (some what narrow) is ok. Bed clothes and towels is included. So is wifi. We had an ok large room with a strait forward private bathroom and big windows with a large working desk along.

Recommended if you just need a place to sleep.

A decent place to sleep

We had a very difficult time getting to the property. It is situated in a very quiet part of town and unfortunately for us there were roadworks. The GPS doesn’t know this and so could not reroute. We went round and round several times hoping to go farther away so that the GPS could recalculate. In the end I just had to look at the map and did old fashion navigating. But as a result we arrived after 4pm which is when the reception closed. It is not usual for hotels to close reception so early and this is summer.
This looked like a big hotel and when we booked the booking website say it was the last 2 rooms for the property. But when we arrived we were the only ones there. There was no one else and no other cars. There was no instructions nor messages how to get into the property. We panicked as it was really eerily deserted. Luckily a passerby helped us call the property (We did not have calling facilities.) and instructions were given to access the key via a box with code.
Notwithstanding it was very scary. Behind the property is forest. In front was a stadium. We were the only guests in the whole property. The staff said there were others but ours were the only car and we didn’t see another soul. How could it be that we booked the second last room?
We barricaded ourselves in and dare not go out again. We are foreigners in a land we know nothing of. How would we know if it was safe or not? How can a big hotel like this have only us as guests and we were left to our own devices.
Needless to say we did not have great sleep.
The facilities were also not great. The wc was stained. The shower area just had a curtain but water still splashed out and there was no floor cloth. The mattress was probably old and so sinks down quite a bit so I woke up with shoulder pain having slept in a bad posture.
Will not recommend this. And it is not cheap. Book at your own peril.
