We paid and confirmed our arrival, and the owner then moved our booking without our permission. They did this as the hotel was full and didn't communicate to us. We ended up sleeping in our car. Do not trust this hotel. 

Slept in our car instead

I stayed 3 nights in the Blue room in Hotel Rosa Lodge and I loved it! The room is bright, airy and spacious and very nicely decorated. The beautiful private terrace is a great place to spend time reading, or chilling in the hammock. The location is quiet and the bed very comfortable, so I slept really well. You can use the pool at the next door hotel Blue Conga and breakfast is also available there. Stephanie is a very caring host! I really enjoyed my stay at the Rosa Lodge and would definitely stay again!

Great little place - recommended

This would be my second time going to Puerto Viejo. Staying here was such an amazing experience, met great people who became friends and hung out like family. The host Stephanie is such an amazing person with a great personality. She makes you feel right at home from that first "hello". Please is clean, comfortable, and in a great location from town and the beach is basically across the street. You can go party or hang out. Highly recommend this place. Thank you Stephanie.

Like family

We stayed 4 nights at Rosa Lodge. The room didn't have AC, which made the room extremely hot. It wasn't possible to hangout in your room in the afternoon. The terrace was nice and usually a lot cooler than the room. You share a fridge with the other guests and there's coffee/tea available. We had breakfast everyday, but in my opinion the price is too high for the breakfast you get. It's a bit further from the centre, so you have a walk quite a bit or rent a bike (which they offer). The room was 3/5 but the service was 5/5. Our host was great, but she doesn't speak English or Spanish that well and would speak to us in French. She gave us discount on our breakfast and the bikes we rented. They have 3 adorable dogs. We had quite some problems with the ATM, so I recommend taking enough cash to cover your trip in Puerto Viejo.

Okay room, great host

We spent a week at Rosa Lodge and really enjoyed it. The owners are a wonderful French couple who were very helpful and generous. Upon arrival and each morning we were given a tray of chunks of fresh tropical fruit. For a fee you can have breakfast, so for our first morning we tried it. It was a continental breakfast with a sweet chocolate cake, rolls, toast, fresh fruit, juice, coffee, and a fresh picked flower to decorate the tray. We couldn't eat it all. The last day we paid the extra fee to add an omelet. Food was served on the beautiful terrace overlooking the garden.

The furniture is mostly wicker and very charming. You can hear and watch howler monkeys in nearby trees. You might catch sight of a sloth and some birds, too. 

It was a fairly short walk to several restaurants in the area and we tried one that our hosts recommended and ended up eating there twice. The beach isn't very close, but it's still a walkable distance. 

One thing of concern was the steep stairs. A handrail should be added. I was nervous every time I went down them. It was also a surprise that our hosts wanted to be paid in cash. We thought we'd have to go to an ATM, but then I noticed something about PayPal and was able to pay using that. Very easy.

We enjoyed our stay and would recommend it to others.

A Great Getaway

I stayed in Rosa Lodge already 2 times and I would always come again! The rooms are very comfortably furnishedand. The terrace is really great and also offers privacy as well as a hammock. Also the owners, a French couple are very nice people!

By far the best place to stay in Puerto Viejo!

We are 4 person family and we spent in February 5 nights in Rosa Lodge in bungalow.Everything was perfect. Bungalow is very spacious, comfortable, style, and clean. It was great to have meals outside in an exotic garden. The owner was very helpful, if we have any issues they were fixed very quickly. The place was quiet, but close to all attractions in the Puerto Viejo de Talamanca. It was pleasure to spend a part of our trip in Costa Rica in Rosa Lodge!

Exellent stay

We rented the villa next to the Colonial house for three nights. It was very nice and clean.
We had our private garden where we ate breakfast. Every morning we enjoyed complementary plate of fresh fruit from the owner. We highly recommend this place.
