This Pousada is in a 300 year old house, located in Santo Antonio. To me this is the ideal neighborhood just a short walk from the Pelourinho where you'll find most of the sights and nightlife of Salvador. The standard rooms are a bargain, but have no windows. The premium rooms upstairs are much nicer with balconies and views. Staff is friendly and helpful. On the weekend a really great bar with live music opens up directly across the street.

Great Location in a 300 year old House

On March, 2016, I reserved a room through booking.com for the 23rd Feb and check out on the 24th 2017. I found a better and much cheaper option however and had to cancel such booking. On the 8th of March 2016, a total of BRL 697.50 were deducted from my bank account. Since cancellation on booking.com was free, I asked the Pousada to refund the money back to my account. I have been sending emails since the 27th of January 2017, with bank details, et cetera and still I have not received a refund to date!!  This is disgusting, I am glad I did not stay in such place, these people are only a bunch of thieves!!

Go at The pousada colonial. I loved The decoration and interior design in rooms and commons Area; i enjoyed breakfast in The sunny balcony with juices and home Made cakes; receptionist are kind and prepared to face any issue you could have. I suggest rooms at high floor

We stayed at Pousada Colonial during our stay in Salvador and loved every bit of it. On arrival, we, for some reason, were upgraded to a premium room which was absolutely stunning with hammock on the balcony. Though the building is 350 years ( as we were told on arrival) the place has been maintained really well and is very inviting!

Wonderful pousada in safe and quiet area

On January of 2016 we booked a couple different hotels in Brazil for our yearly trip at the end of the year.  One of them was Pousada Colonial in Salvador.  As always we chose the properties and booked rooms keeping in mind the cancellation dates/fees.  That said, after decent communication with Pousada colonial throughout 2016, we decided to cancel the reservation after finding a better option in Salvador.   The cancellation of our original booking at Pousada colonial was done absolutely within the range required for a full refund of the 50% total value we paid upon reserving the room.  From previous experience I expected an email from the property confirming my cancellation and once I didn't hear from them I sent them a message.  I was informed an online refund was "no longer an option" due to a vendor switch that prevented 2016 reservations from being modified online.  It made absolutely no sense, but they told us they could refund us by direct deposit into a Brazilian bank account, which for a overseas booking is ridiculous, but luckily for us, my parents live in Brazil.   We provided them with all the information they required for the bank deposit and requested confirmation upon deposit.  

Two months went by and we heard nothing.  My father periodically checked his account for the deposit, to no avail.  We proceeded to send them multiple emails and have heard nothing in the past 2.5 weeks.   The Trip Advisor website and the service it provides cannot afford to be in business with places like Pousada Colonial.  Maybe there is a good explanation for this, but after hearing nothing from them I can't help but wonder if they think the fact we live in the USA will eventually lead us to give up with no repercussions.  This is not the case.  Pousada Colonial is flat out ignoring our emails while owing us our refund.  Think twice before booking this place.
