Kera Smart Hostel

In march 2020 I travelled from Ilhabela to Sao Paulo to volunteer in this hostel. It was the beginning of the corona outbreak in Brazil and I arrived the day before everything closed in Sao Paulo. We saw all the reservations get cancelled and there was no one in the hostel except Marcio, the owner of the hostel, and the volunteers. Due to the difficult circumstances Marcio was forced to close the hostel, as many did in the city. Despite he closed the hostel he told to me and the other volunteers that we didn't need to worry and that he would take care of us offering us accommodation. Even if the city was closed he took us out in his car and showed us the city from the car. It was a relieve to get out of the hostel for a moment to see a bit of Sao Paulo. It was so nice of him, Marcio is a good person with only but good intentions. Even if I couldn't complete my volunteering, I can tell that this hostel is a good place to stay. The owner is a good guy, the location is amazing (next to the metro stop of Vila Madalena), the hostel looks nice and quite big with two locations that are nearby each other, all the bars of Vila Madalena within walking distance and it is a safe neighbourhood. After a week I could safely go home with mixed feelings. On the one hand happy to be able to go to my country during this difficult times and at the other hand sad to leave Brazil, Sao Paulo and this hostel much earlier than planned. In normal circumstances I know I would have a great time here. I will definitely come back to Sao Paulo and this hostel, at least for a visit. Thanks again for everything Marcio and we'll meet again!
