Our familiy stayed 3 nights at the Sagu Mini Resort in August. We had a great time there. The location is just perfect, just a 15 minute walk from the center and in a quiet place with a beautiful seaview near a beach. The team is very friendly and helpful and the breakfast is excellent. A place to be !

Very nice stay in Sagu !

We had an amazing time staying here. Our stay coincided with our wedding anniversary and the staff made it totally perfect! Jonathan, in the restaurant, was especially awesome. We stayed in room 9 and the view from the huge windows was stunning (when we come again we will request this room!). The hotel has a great location, being close enough to town to walk to if you wanted to, but far enough out to feel super private. The boat transfer was fun and got you to the main pier in about 2 minutes. There were lots of great hiking trails starting near the hotel that we loved (the one to Lopes Mendes is well worth the effort with boat taxis at the end to take you back). On our anniversary the staff arranged a private boat for the day that took us out around the island and our driver was brilliant at finding remote places for us to swim and chill (it was about £130 and totally worth it). Breakfast was good and the cakes at afternoon tea were delicious. We will definitely be coming back!

Paradise!

Lovely hotel run by excellent staff. Well organised and extremely helpful. We had room 9 which has mixed reviews so here is my honest opinion.
Positives  Amazing views, large bed, very large accommodation including walk-in wardrobe area.
Negatives Above the breakfast area so you get woken up when area is being set up for breakfast, shower is interesting and temperamental in providing hot unless you get it just right, provided with kettle but no coffee etc.
Overall really enjoyed our stay and the meals we had were very good.

Mobility

We stayed for 4 days in April 2019
Resort is nice with very helpful staff and a good restaurant. It is located around 15 minutes from the main town and close to some nice beaches.
You can rent a boat for a day or half day trip.

A couple of issues - the bathrooms in the restaurant areas were not clean and wi-fi in the rooms did not work at all during our stay.

Overall a good place to stay but might not be worth the price for what it is.

Nice but overpriced resort

The place must have been magical when it was built, I guess in the 80ies of the last century. There are still elements of the old charm in its layout - the rooms are spacious, the terrace overlooking the bay is lovely. But the place is shabby and, what's worse, smelly - it reeks of rotting rubbish, septic tanks and disinfectant. 
The restaurant is one of the most expensive of the island, one of the worst too - pretentious, bland, compensating for the lack of culinary sense by serving food on fancy plates. We ate at Restaurante Lua et Mar and Cafe Do Mar where the food was simple - grilled fish and seafood, served with loads of fresh lime, it tasted of ocean freshness, just what you want on an island. Not in Sagu. 
Don't stay there - it's overpriced and under-maintained. The only positive there was the amazing young couple - the French Eva and her Argentinian boyfriend, who were more efficient, charming and helpful than the rest of the Sagu resort taken together. Otherwise, the place is badly run, their breakfast is disgusting - dry flakes and instant coffee, they don't reply to phone calls, return emails 3 days later when the information in them is no longer valid. It's a bad place, stay away!
