I was really impressed with this hostel which was clean and included a good breakfast. We were greeted by Edward who spoke excellent English and was incredibly helpful. We arrived late at night and asked about options for getting to the airport the following morning. Edward gave us information about taxis and another option involving 2 buses. When we woke the following morning he told us that he had done some research for us during the night and had found a direct bus option from near the hostel. We really appreciated his efforts.

Great value, helpful staff

I seriously can't understand why or even how there can be ANY negative reviews about this place?! Cleanest, most friendly hostel we've stayed at in almost 8 months of hostel staying!! Seriously, read past the whining peeps before and stay at this hostel! Great breakfast and more than accommodating staff! Loved the common areas as for they were all weather friendly with beautiful landscaping. We took a chance on this place after reading the reviews due to economic pricing and were blown away when we arrived!! Hostel deserves better!!

Read My Review!

We arrived at 1 am with no reservation and were warmly welcomed. They made us a discount on the matrimonial room as the dorms were full. The next day we asked to be moved to the dorms which were nice (only 2 lockers for a 6 beds dorm though.) Only one guy from the staff speaks English and he wasn't always there. The others don't speak english nor spanish so it's super hard to communicate. We sometimes felt like we were disturbing the family that lives there, we could'nt use the kitchen when we wanted like we had to wait for them to be done cooking and eating. On our last day there we had to catch an early plane so we asked for an early breakfast (5 am is not that early) which they simply refused. Wifi is good. Hot water is not hot enough. Breakfast is fine too (chocolate cake, cheese, ham, bread etc.)

Good for the price

I arrived early and asked if I could leave my stuff until I could check in, but they said I had to pay for half a day, if I wanted to do so. Then they showed me to one room, where none of the beds were made, but since I came early I understood that, so I was shown to another room. I was then asked to go pay, and it was more expensive than the reservation I had made (not including the extra half-day). But since the lady didn't speak English, I couldn't explain it to her.
Later at night, when I was trying to sleep, first one from the staff entered and quickly left as he saw I was nearly sleeping, but only a few minutes later, the woman comes in, starts loudly speaking in Portuguese to me, while arranging, but not really arranging the beds. She didn't change sheets, and I had seen people leaving the room earlier, just straightened them out.
Also, there were rarely anyone in the reception, so I let myself out occasionally. Generally not a very good place, with ants everywhere in the kitchen. I know ants can't be avoided, however, this amount can.

Decent for the price but I would not go back. 
Free water dispenser (very much appreciated in this terribly hot place).
Card machine not working (probably on purpose. Not very clean. Every thing is old and a but messy. Not close to anything in town. Not bad but not goid enough...
