Hotel Garcilazo

The hotel is quite large with 4 floors I think. The place was completely empty. There is WiFi but one of the routers broke one night.....so the owner ran extension leads all the way up the middle of the hotel to the top floor for us....great service. Our double room was quite large and the bed was comfy. There's no lift to the top floor so it's a bit tiring going up a few times each day. Location of the hotel was good with huge markets all very close by. Staff only speak Spanish and they let you in and out of the hotel. Brekkie wasn't included

The hotel was almost empty I think - I hardly saw a soul apart from staff. So despite having to share a toilet and shower, it was practically my own ensuite. The hotel provided loo paper, soap and a large soft towel. WiFi reaches to the 4th floor rooms though it completely stopped at 8:30 pm one night. My single room had a comfy bed, bedside table, wardrobe, two more tables,a chair, mirror and TV with remote. While I was on the market side of the hotel, the noises below were not loud. There's no lift to the 4th floor so it's a bit tiring going up a few times each day. If you have a lot of luggage then I'm not sure how you'll like it. There is hot water in the shower but only if you have a low flow of water going through the heater; crank up the flow and the heater cannot keep up and the shower is cold. Rooms and toilet/shower are clean. Staff make your bed and give you a fresh towel when you stay a few days. Location of the hotel was perfect for me being close to the Telorífico red line and Plaza San Francisco. Staff only speak Spanish and they let you out & in of the hotel, or you can go out the side door that goes through a shop facing the market. There is no breakfast included but I found a little coffee shop at the corner that does a grilled ham & cheese sandwich with delicious coffee for 11 Bolivianos.

Central location, quiet hotel, busy street

Convenient location

Room was basic but reasonably clean and spacious. The street it is on is a market street, it's lovely to walk amongst all the vendors of colourful fabrics and clothing, but it did get very noisy. 
We couldn't get the hot water to work at all and the wifi was only accessible downstairs (and only for brief periods when it was turned on). 
The guy who ran the place was very friendly and helpful. 

Quiet Hotel on Noisy Street

The owner has some kind of split personality where he's nice half the time and the changes.   Says online it's a 24 hour reception but the owner appears to not care about making money or reviews.   He basically shuts the door at 11 and will throw a fuss if you want to leave after then or return.

Ruined our Saturday night.

Weird as the hotel was empty.  You think he'd just pay someone to work at the reception like every other hotel but ah well, we left!

Unlike the description this hotel does NOT have a 24 hour reception!

Booked from Booking.com, usd13 per night for a single room. The location is good, not far away from center, room is OK. The owner was very welcome when I checked in, but on the next day, when I checked out and wanted to leave luggage in the hotel  for several hours because the bus to Uyuni always leaves in the evening, the owner became very rude, he didn't allow to leave luggage after a long negotiation, even I said I could pay for it.
