Just back from a new year ski trip to Saalbach. We stayed 5 nights at The Schattberg and loved it . Location was absolutely great, in an elevated position overlooking the village and Schattberg Gondola, 5 min enjoyable walk to lots bars & restaurants . The hotel was impeccably clean, with extremely comfortable bed and beddings, I think most rooms had balconies and our overlooked the town. Small restaurant with nice food served until around 8pm I think, breakfast was quite limited but nice enough . Very pleasant waitress, and owner. All lovely and trusting with a small honesty bar and no card details needed etc. Hotel was nice and warm with a really cozy feel to it, lots of nice lighting and rugs etc . Small sauna area which was great ( Austrian / German etiquette !) .We were a group of 8 and all loved it. Would certainly stay again if we returned to Saalbach .

Lovely cosy hotel, impeccably clean and well located.

Based just up the road from the Schattberg Express cable car in Saalbach (easy 8-10min walk to town centre), the hotel owners are extremely trustworthy and helpful. We booked last minute due to covid changes (two adults and one child) and Gerda, the hotel owner simply said that we could pay when we get there, no need for deposit payment. "We've spoken now, so I trust you...... if you can make it out here, no problem". This trusting attitude continued during our stay and the same when it came to settle up. A truly heartwarming attitude in today's digital and binary world.
The hotel is a family run hotel with all the facilties we needed, and was 100% on the ball at being covid safe. The rooms were clean and made when we arrived and were cleaned and beds made each day (in a different design each day, which was a nice touch - even a small bottle of fizz for New Years Eve - which was totally unexpected). The breakfast was simple, but ample, with self service bread, cheeses and ham/salami as well as boiled eggs, cereal, nuts, fresh fruit salad and selection of yoghurts (coffee and tea or hot chocolate by order). 
In the evening, the hotel had available,  simple snack type foods (including a lovely goulash soup) and bar drinks, so we did not need to venture in town each night - they also have a small games room with table football and table tennis tables, which was great for family fun. They also have a sauna (although we did not use it)).
The hotel has a great ski and heated boot room downstairs (accessible by lift from inside the hotel or stairs) and with easy access to outside.
All in all, a great family place to stay combined with some fantastic skiing in the Saalbach/Hinterglemm region. Big thanks to Gerda and her team for making our stay so good.

Great family friendly, family run hotel

The hotel and staff were lovely. Made us all feel very welcome. Its a nice quiet hotel, about a 10 minute walk into the centre. 
We stayed for a week, and its so nice having a meal and a nice fresh walk back. 
We decided to pay €3 per day to keep our ski’s and boots at the bottom on the lifts, as its an uphill walk to the hotel, which, with ski’s and boots wouldn’t have been fun (although we saw a few people brave it!). You can ski in and out but its a black run.. again saw a few people brave it. 
I would defiantly come back to Saalbach next year and stay at this hotel. Thanks for having us. 

Lovely Stay!

We were a party of three travelling with Crystal
The Crystal brochure description really doesn’t to it justice.
The accommodation and facilities are scrupulously clean.
The breakfasts are as good as any of the other three hotels in the area that we have used in the past
The staff are charming, helpful and multi lingual
There is a limited evening menu available between 1800 and 200. Five or six dishes at a very reasonable price.
When the bar is closed, or if you wish to drink in your room there is a fridge with beer and soft drinks. Wine is also available. All at very reasonable prices.
It is ski in and ski out but you have to ski across a meadow and you come off a black slope so to do.
Town is a short walk away with a slightly longer return journey in terms of time because it’s uphill.

Good location and very good value

We always book a skiing holiday independently and this has been a lovely find . 
Really welcoming and a separate mention to the woman in breakfast/ meal area. Who is always bright and friendly. 
Location is good for Schattberg lift but I would rent skis with storage as you don’t want to lug them up and down daily.

Room typical to the region ie very wooden, comfortable beds and very clean.

Great tyrolean welcome

We stayed here in February for a week.  The hotel is very tidy, rooms cleaned daily.  Very handy having a fridge in the room.  It is located a short walk to the town, this didn't bother us at all, being very active people.
We found the rooms very quiet, so sleep quality was great.  Breakfast is continental, however we both found it strange to not have a toaster?! That is the only negative point we found about staying here which is why our rating is 4.
All in all a great stay in a fab quiet out of town location.

Great stay

Very friendly staff and I got very warmly welcome from the owner. The location is close to center, but bit uphills. On the other hand, no noise from the streets or party-people is coming. 
The sauna and dampfbad warmed up every day from 4pm to 8 pm. Breakfast included wide range of muesli, fresh fruits, cheeses, cold cuts and others. We did not test the dinner, but might be worth of trying. At-least prices were very moderate. 

Ski-out is easy task with skies and ski-in is possible from black slope.  

Location is very close to buss stop, so it's easy to reach with public transportation.

The pension is nice, but we booked very late for the Saalbach-Hinterglem area and were happy to find anything . We had 'an attic room', which means only a window at the top, so no view, but as I said, we booked very late, so no complaints. The room is OK, but not being able to look out of a window, is 'not everything' so I suggets you book earlier and check what kind of room you get. 
The owner and her staff are great, very helpful. The breakfast is standard, but OK. Dinner choice is limited, but what they have tast good.
The location for ski holidays is not everything if you do not have a car at your disposal or you must not mind to walk on ski boots with ski's a few hundred meters down (and later up) to Saalbach and from there 200 meters to the nearest ski-lift. We had a car so it was easier. The pension has ample parking place. By the way, if you park your car in Saalbach in the biggest parking garage, it is free as long as you can show your ski pass when you return to your car after a day of skiing. 
The pension has a room for ski's and shoes.

Ski holidays

Second trip to saalbach. We wanted B and B in order that we could eat freely lunch and evening time on the mountain and in the town. This hotel was perfect. Great welcome on front desk and friendly Hungarian waitress and also the housekeeper. Light meals in the evening available to purchase....soup, pizza, chicken and chips. Will definitely return.
