We had a big party attend. The food was amazing and good value. Samie was especially helpful and made our night even more special than it already was. Pepper sauce was to die for. thank you Samie! The rooms were basic, but good value for money. The water pressure and heat of hot water was a pleasant surprise after expectations were set low. Don't look too closely at the carpet... I've stayed at lots of NSW country pubs. I'd come back to this one. On balance, its a four star rating from me. Probably only three stars if Samie wasn't working her magic.

Beautiful and charming old hotel. It is quite run down so don’t expect any luxury. But the sheets were clean and the bed comfortable. The people were
Friendly enough but I didn’t stay to chat.
I gave it four stars because I was looking for the charm of this sort of place. But the accommodation won’t be to everyone’s taste.

Classic country pub room

A large group of family/friends recently ate dinner at the Culcairn hotel dining room and we all enjoyed our meals, they were cooked well and as ordered and the Chef did a great job on his own getting the food out to everyone dining in the room without diners having to wait for ages.  He was also very accommodating with dietary requirements making it easy for every member in our group to enjoy a meal without any fuss and confusion which can often be the case in country pubs.  
The service in the dining room on the night was friendly and efficient.

Pub was nice, the room was very average but the bed was warm and comfy. no coffee or tea facilities which I've never heard of before and we have travelled and stayed in a lot of place,told It was not supplied unless we got up later and bought at the bar. the meal was very good value. The lady at the bar needs to get a different job, uninterested, abrupt and very unwelcoming, was more interested in talking to a bloke about how she owned the pool table in the upstairs lounge, usually were the kitchen, coffee facilities are kept for paying guests?

Service was not good and didn't seem to care. Rooms were dirty and did not look like they had been vacuum or dusted in quite awhile, No tea & coffee facility when told there was. Toilets not usable in mans showers. Over all very disappointing after reading other reviews.

Unhappy traveller.

Stayed in a comfortable double room with shared facilities. Very peaceful as off the main highway. No noise from the train line opposite. Very friendly staff and great meals in the restaurant. The bakery at the corner is great for breakfast, and is very busy. Recommend for an overnight stay.

Great older style hotel

Arriving about 7pm, we requested a room. Check-in promised one with a fan, which we then had to request. Unblinkingly she charged us 50% more than the advertised rack rate and let us find the room upstairs over heavily stained, ancient carpet. It faced the restaurant exhaust system, through decrepit long windows and torn fly screens. We did not try the restaurant as a request at the bar for a wine list elicited the response 'what sort of wine do you want?'! There was wi-fi, but 'Sorry, only the manager (not present) knows what the password is. In the words of Spike Milligan, turning on the room lighting seemed to make the room look darker. The highlight of its furniture was an old stool as my bed side table. Sheets and towels did seem clean, but bathrooms were truly ordinary.
'Faded beauty, indeed'. The beauty faded here so long ago that it should have been closed. An insult to the group 'Pubstay', whose logo hung beside the front door.
