Mirador del Beagle Hosteria

Mirador del Beagle in Ushuaia is really a great place, especially for solo travelers (although it would be just as fine for couples). Located up the hill, it is a bit far from the city but I could always get a taxi without any problem. The room was comfortable with great views of the Beagle Channel. Of course you need to book ahead of time to get a room with this view. There is no restaurant but there is a lovely dining area with a refrigerator, microwave oven and hot water maker so that you can bring your food and eat it here. And yes, you can even cook if you wish to, as a gas stove and vessels are available. Remember to clean everything properly and put it in its place after use, though. Marina and Christian, the owners, take very good care of everything. In fact, the morning that I had arrived, a group of South Korean tourists had just checked out, but after they made a mess of the kitchen, left stuff on the floor and even put a hot skillet on the dining table, leaving a permanent mark. And what’s more, one (or more) of the guests had smoked in the room, which was nothing short of sacrilege for Marina, who was visibly upset, and rightfully so since she takes pride in the place. Beyond doubt, you will have a memorable stay and will feel as if you are in your own home.
