Hotel Tacuarembo

While visiting  my in-laws in Tacuarembó I swam and enjoyed the sun at their great pool and patio. The woman at the front desk was kind and helpful. Mario invited me to take a sauna which I really enjoyed, and made me feel at home because we have a lot of saunas in my home state of Minnesota. 

The perfect situation in the center of the city for shopping and entertainement is a must.
Unfortunatly the corridors and some of the rooms are really in bad shape.
The huge pool,open 24 hs is the gem of the place.
The restaurant offers a variety of meats and salads and sweets.Not open all day.
If you do not care about old style you will enjoy this hotel,
Parking is easy in front of the hotel.
Breakfast is average.

We stayed one night on our trip around Uruguay there was not much to see in this area despite being the center of cattle country and vast pampas but all the residents of very pleasant.We looked for a restaurant but could not find one open so we settled on sandwiches in our room.The street was noisy all night despite asking for a quiet room and hotel was empty. The 86 yrs old lady owner was telling us it was for sale as her children were not interested in running it - but it appeared to be well maintained and it in center of town.I could recommend it to anyone wanting to stay one or two nights.The breakfast was quite good and plentiful.

Rustic hotel

We got a double room...maybe we should've sprung for the "doble superior" (though I didn't take a look at one to know what makes it better). Our room was a tiny, white, concrete block with a double bed. There was hardly room for our bags on the floor (and we were just backpacking -- no big suitcases). No windows. Super tiny bathroom with a super tiny sink. Toilet didn't flush well, and the seat was barely attached. Room had an exposed fuse box and dirty walls. The wi-fi there was very weak -- it didn't work in our room most of the time. 

On the plus side, the room did have a TV with a variety of Spanish and English language channels. Breakfast consisted of slices of white bread, a couple of spreads, and a few beverage options. I've stayed in better rooms at hostels. 

Although this place wasn't expensive, the price seemed a bit too much for what the rooms are. If I were to go back to Tacuarembo, I'd check out other options and only stay here again if I had to.

OK...but not that great

I spent one night here while visiting Tacuarembo. I think I passed by 4 hotels during my stay there and this one might be the best there is as far as I know. But it wasn't great. The hotel felt like a converted college dorm. The carpeting was thin industrial stuff like you'd find in a warehouse, the bathroom was terrible and the flourescent lighting worse. I also didn't like the matresses. On the plus side, there is a pool in back which I saw several adults and kids using but I didn't have time to try myself.
