Been staying here for years! A quiet, very relaxing waterfront retreat. Our “go-to” destination in Maine at the right price. The views are beautiful with comfortable accommodations. This is a great spot for families with children and family reunions. The cottages offer privacy and some have cozy fireplaces. (The cost may be prohibitive for a larger families in high season needing 2 bedrooms.) There are plenty of eating establishments in walking distance; and walking to Perkins Cove as well!

Relaxing family retreat

This has become a favorite place to stay. Rustic cottages in a beautiful setting overlooking the river and dunes
Grounds are beautiful and our 4 year old grandson has tons of space to run and play. Tables and Adirondacks for breakfast views and dinner if you want to cook. Pool is clean and wellmaintained. Staff is friendly and accommodating. We had a one bedroom and a two bedroom for our family and dog. It's not luxury but it's just great. Only thing missing is a fire pit!

Great place with private cabins placed away from each other, very clean and comfortable. The cabin has a refrigerator , tv and walk in shower, bed is comfortable. They have boats to rent, pool, shuffleboard and croquet. Staff is very friendly. Entrance is easy to get in and out of to go visit the area. The 
Lobster Pound restaurant is next door and easily to walk to.  The sunrise, if you’re up early enough is absolutely beautiful.

Private cabins and awesome location

Lovely place to stay, well appointed cottages with everything you need for a great self-catering trip.  Comfortable and lots of seating options with the outside table plus the porch means lots of alfresco time.  
Always friendly staff and love coming to the Dunes.

Another lovely visit to the Dunes

We stayed for a week with our dog and it was as close to a perfect vacation as can be. First, the staff was wonderful. We felt taken care of - when we needed anything they were a phone call or short walk to the office away. The staff took care of the grounds daily. Fresh apples, coffee and hot chocolate were available in the office lobby. 

I want to give a shout out to Effie who helped me with my reservation before we got there. She was so helpful and friendly, getting back to me quickly with options of dates for us. (Not every cabin is dog-friendly so we were limited to when we could go. Also, these cabins fill up quickly so reserve one way in advance of when you are traveling.)

The cabin was the perfect size for us. There was a full kitchen - we made our meals in it every day. In fact, we had a box of Blue Apron meals delivered to the office for us for the week. The office staff was happy to accept the delivery for us. The beds in our cabin were on the small side (we are both 5'6" / petite). I kept thinking that someone over six foot might not be comfortable in those beds. But ask the staff - there are several cabins and rooms so they can find one that is right for your needs. 

The location is wonderful - short walk to downtown Ogunquit in one direction, the Footbridge / beach in the other. More than anything, we loved having a place where we could bring our dog so he could frolic on the beach and on the property there at the Dunes. He loved it - running through the leaves, running on the sand. And the staff had a little welcome kit for him - treats, towels, etc.

We love Maine, fall, Ogunquit, traveling with our dog, having our own space/cabin. The Dunes on the Waterfront gave us all of that. I will add that we've been coming to Ogunquit every year for over a decade. This was our first time at the Dunes because we needed a dog-friendly option. We are so grateful that we've found this place!


Wonderful Staff & Location 

The Dunes are quaint cabins on the Waterfront. They have wonderful Adirondack chairs along the water to sit out and have your coffee. We watched the sun come up. It was ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. The service was wonderful, the customer service was impeccable. They greeted us warmly and took care of everything we needed. ABSOLUTLY GORGOUS Property.


Rest, Relax & Rejuvenate in this quiet, quaint Coastal Maine experience

My husband and I live two hours away, and wanted a quick overnight getaway.  We had been to Ogunquit many times, but never even knew about Dunes on the Waterfront.  We took a gamble, and are glad we did!  We went on the last weekend they are open for the season, which, we found out, was puppy weekend.  The resort is set off of a busy road (Rte 1), but you would never know.  It is set back enough, that we didn't hear the trucks and cars pass by.  Our room (#23) was just right for the two of us. Enough room to move around, plus a small table and chairs to sit at.  The beds were comfy, and the bathroom very clean.  The entire room and property were well-maintained, especially for the last weekend of the season!  Our room had two windows that overlooked the water - great for seeing the sunrise!  We were able to walk to the main Ogunquit beach, as well as in the other direction, Footbridge Beach.   We found the staff to be very helpful and very friendly!  Great value for off season! We will be back!

Great views, clean rooms, excellent location!

Our first visit to maine and we stayed three nights in a guest room at the dunes. Room #6, very clean, comfy bed and big modern bathroom. The room was small but perfectly formed and we had a large shared balcony looking out towards the ocean. Parking was right in front and super easy. It was lovely and quiet. We really liked it and worked from the room one day easily, wifi was good. A few places within walking distance to eat and drink, I’d definitely revisit. Would love a little cottage next time.

Lovely place

A beautiful place to come and relax.   The Service and our little cabin was clean and spotless. 
      From the start of our arrival at the front office, we knew we had chosen the right place to stay.  We received a packet that held our keys, an information sheet about the Ins and outs of staying here. 
     Plenty of places to eat nearby, although there is some cabins with a kitchen or grills nearby. 
     A beautiful pool, kayaks and rowboats to rent. 
      Coffee in the office, a friendly staff inside and out.  
      The Dunes grounds are well kept and the flowers were well care for.

Yes, it's the Three Q's. 

We spent a weekend at The Dunes. The last weekend they are open each year (last weekend of October) they have a Doggy Weekend, so we took advantage of this.
We were in a superior room which was one half of one of the cottages, which was great. Everything was clean, comfortable and convenient (the three c's). Towels, blankets, bags and treats were provided for the dog, as well as a great welcome bag (and the merch we received in the Halloween Woof Strut was also great). 
Breakfasr was provided daily, delivered in a lovely basket with linen napkin liner. It was continental but of a grand size - juices, yogurts, pastries, granola bars, fresh fruit. More than we would eat in a sitting.

The property overlooks the dunes (duh) and the Atlantic lies behind them, so you may see crashing surf but t's tough to actually see the ocean itself. Still, the location out of town, as many have noted, is a bonus. I noted that cottages and hotels in town are cramped on small lots. The Dunes is spread out - the cottages are not n top of each other by any stretch of the imagination, and while you can walk to the Lobster Pound, the Egg and I or other restaurants or downtown, you are not hemmed in as you are there. As noted by many, rowboats will get you to the beach when the tide's in. Because of inclement weather we weren't able to get to the beach - hope to return in the better weather.

Because the Dunes is the sort of place you do want to return to. The staff is so friendly and accommodating, generous and helpful, that's another plus.

Highly recommended.
