We stayed two nights. The hospitality of Ms. Sheila and Mr. Hubbard made us feel right at home. The rooms were comfortable and the decore and furnishings were beaitiful ornate. Bobbie Jean and Charles enjoyed catching up and learning about the history of the house too.Glad we found ya'll!

Quick and Hospitable Stay

Peaceful, elegant, attentive, friendly.  An interesting back story for those who care to learn it. Perfectly situated on the St Charles streetcar line. You can get anywhere in the city from here.  Safe, walk-able neighborhood. Cab connections are great if you need them. 

Like a second home

The Hubbard Mansion is a DREAM. I had everything I needed and it was all so elegantly presented. The details of this BnB are immaculate and I appreciated all the rich history I gained by just looking at the the walls and through conversation with Ms. Shelia. Speaking of Ms. Shelia, she provided the warmest hospitality, making sure I felt like I was at home. She was available to help with anything I needed. I have to come back. I just have to. --Erica 

The Hubbard is an absolute DREAM!

in addition to the outstanding location and the historical look and feel, the best part of Hubbard Mansion is the owner and operator, Don Hubbard, and
 innkeeper Sheila. we saw plantations, took tours, and rode a paddle wheel on the Mississippi river, but the best part was the two hours each morning my wife and I got to spend with Don. He is a gentle soul who has done and seen more than nearly any man I’ve ever met.  You trip will be well spent at tha Mansion but your life will be richer because you got to have a conversation or two with Don. Ask him questions so he knows you are curious, and the history lesson will begin!!!

Hubbard Mansion will astonish and delight!

Awesome stay at the Hubbard Mansion. A must stay location when visiting New Orleans. Mr Hubbard is the boss, but Shelia is in charge and they create a wonderful atmosphere for a beautiful stay.

Wonderful St Charles Ave B&B

We recently had a lovely stay at The Hubbard Mansion Bed and Breakfast!  The owners made us feel right at home upon our arrival and during our stay.  Don and Shelia are very friendly and accommodating hosts!  We appreciate the attention to detail that was provided during our stay.  We particularly enjoy their peaceful porch as were are able to enjoy beautiful views of St. Charles Avenue. Their home is immaculately kept and I know that takes much effort from the owners, but it made for a delightful stay.  We were very appreciative of our comfortable room and private bathroom.  Each of our mornings began with a hot breakfast lovingly prepared and served by Shelia.  The breakfast was served to a festively decorated table which was a perfect beginning for our day. We are hopeful to stay at The Hubbard Mansion Bed and Breakfast again soon. Thanks again to the owners for graciously sharing their home with us!

FANTASTIC STAY!

We were fortunate to stay with such amazing and friendly hosts. A personal issue arose during our trip and Don and Sheila were very kind and helpful.

The location is fantastic not only for proximity to Uptown parades during Mardi Gras, but also easy accessibility to Magazine St., Garden District, Audubon Park, Tulane/Loyola, Central Business District, downtown, Canal St and French Quarter.

The house and grounds are beautifully decorated and thoughtfully maintained. We stayed in Breion and were very comfortable.

Wonderful stay

My first stay both in New Orleans and at a bed and breakfast was lovely. I was the only guest in the main house at the time, staying a couple extra nights in the city after a work trip, and Ms. Shelia and Mr. Don were incredible hosts. From the beginning, Ms. Shelia was flexible when my check-in time unexpectedly changed and thoughtful throughout my short stay. They were great company at breakfast with special insight into New Orleans as folks deeply embedded in their local community. Hubbard Mansion is their home, and they treat it and their guests well. No AirBNB could compare! 

*Location*
The location in the Garden District was beautiful, peaceful, and very convenient to the St. Charles streetcar line. Since the streetcar is literally across the street, you may be able to hear it from your room, but it didn't disturb my sleep. I was easily able to get to Audubon Park/Tulane, the French Quarter, Magazine St., and visit friends living in the city via streetcar, walking, and Lyft. I wasn't ever in a hurry, and it took 10-30 min to get where I wanted to go. There is a dedicated parking lot if you bring your own car. Honestly, Hubbard Mansion was a welcome reprieve from the crowds of the French Quarter. If you're in town at the peak of Mardi Gras season, you'll be able to see some parades pass right by the front porch. 

*Lodging*
I stayed in the Breion room in the lower level of the main house, not the carriage house out back. The room itself was as pictured online, very clean, and comfortable. There were other rooms in the main house on the lower level, along with the dining room, kitchen, and a lobby bathroom. The hosts live upstairs, and I never felt that we were in each other's way. The private bath had good water pressure in the shower and the hot water temperature perfect for a soak in the tub. I appreciated the amount of private space I had and that they are a low occupancy facility, especially if you are still COVID precautious. Breakfast was a solid start before sightseeing and eating around the city. Because of the historical nature of the decor, I don't think this bnb is appropriate for small children (as stated on the website).

Overall: I would highly recommend Hubbard Mansion as part of your New Orleans experience. It's a special place with special people. Especially knowing how many locals to New Orleans have been pushed out of the city over the years, it's truly a triumph that Hubbard Mansion has remained and continues to deliver quality service. They are one of the only Black owned bed and breakfasts in the US, which is monumental in its own right. I would definitely stay here again!

Start with the Best

The Hubbard Mansion was the best place I have stayed in a long time!!  The owners were EVERYTIME to me!!  The history of Mr. Hubbard was like living in history, all the times I had read about the Freedom Fighters here I was face to face with one.  I spent most of my time learning about the freedoms he had fought for.  This could not have come at a better time for me, Black History Month.   I thank Dillard University for choosing the Hubbard Mansion for me.  And I thank the Hubbard's for their hospitality!     

THE BEST BED AND BREAKFAST IN NEW ORLEANS

Good company, great location, convienient dining options, wonderful history, very clean and comfortable!!!! Nice place to relax and dream! So proud to "claim" and bask in the accomplishments of MY people, in the midst of constant putdowns in this country referring to black people! Mr. Don, you "done gooooood!"
