I rented a condo at Hidden Dunes through RealJoy Vacations.  They treated us as if we were their only customer.  I received emails and texts reminding me when to pay my balance, how am I doing, counting days until we arrive.  It felt as though they were right there should I need anything at all.  Great customer service.  The condo, 1501 was luxurious.  Professionally decorated.  Colors soft and serene.  Modern kitchen which has enough room and utensils making an entire Thanksgiving feast.  The unit is large where 10 people would find it difficult to be tripping over one other.  Hot tub on balcony - but not working during our visit.  A full glass storm door which was a beautiful touch as we could leave the inside door open and catch the view and light from that end of the condo.  Elevators were clean and easy to catch even during Spring Break week.  Clean restrooms on first floor near pool area.  Check in and out were a little confusing but easily navigable.  Parking was easy, side and garage top.  Because it's Thomas Dr. you do have to drive this way to get over to that way, but well worth the extra few minutes to miss the congestion on Front Beach Rd.  Would stay in this condo using RealJoy again in a heartbeat.

A break from chaos

Due to Covid a Batson visit to Hidden Dunes didn't happen in 2020.  The last time a Batson was there was 2019; no visit in 2018 due to grandson's wedding in Cancun.  Had to postpone 2021 visit due to family illnesses...not Covid, just other stuff.  Maybe next year!!  We have stayed at Hidden Dunes since 2003 (I think that's right.)  We stayed at Dunes of Panama in 2001 and 2002 (Hidden Dunes was being built) and knew we wanted to stay there after it was finished.    If we ever had any issues, the wonderful staff (AMY) saw to it that things were taken care of.  Always rent from Hidden Dunes folks and not the realtors.  Huge condo with private balconies and hot tubs on each balcony.  Fully furnished kitchens and you do your own laundry in the spacious laundry room.  But who spends that much time actually in the Condo?  The views are spectacular and the beach is at your feet.  Nice pool and pool area.  Wish they had some umbrellas spaced around the deck though: that sun gets hot.  I think we only stayed in the same condo twice and they were all wonderful.  I know when we are all well enough to make the trip, we will stay at Hidden Dunes.  Hope Amy is still there. :)

Since 2003   (I think)

My family recently purchased unit 601 at Hidden Dunes and have placed it under Real Joy management for short term rental. It is a beautiful 3bd/3ba 2344 sqft condo that comfortably sleeps 10. We are updating the unit and will have it ready to rent in early 2021. These are the largest condos we have ever seen at PCB. We hope everyone that stays here will just love it.

Had a wonderful experience at Hidden Dunes..Stayed in unit 1501, booked directly with owner through Vrbo. It was the nicest condo we have stayed in at PCB. I highly recommend it and the complex. Beautiful!

Hidden Dunes 1501

Our first time to Panama City and we stayed at Hidden Dunes! Loved it! The office staff was so nice to these Texas girls! The rooms were so clean and  and the view was amazing!! Will definitely stay here next time!!

1st time to PCB!

This is a nice hotel in a great spot. The beach is amazing and only steps from the building. It has a nice pool area and wonderful views. The room that we stayed in was amazing - spacious, clean, and beautifully appointed. I would definitely stay here the next time I visit Panama City Beach. The only complaint - which is not a major thing for most people - is that it is not pedestrian friendly. To walk out onto the street you have to navigate the parking lot of the three buildings that make up the complex so that you can exit through the ONE gate available. As for parking - we drove a 12-passenger van and found parking to be available at any time (although sometimes tight). All around I do recommend this resort.

Great hotel - not pedestrian friendly

This review is only for our stay in this unit May 2018. The location was perfect for my mobility-disabled parent for access and parking. All mattresses in the bedrooms are high (mid thigh to hip height on a 5” 2” person); we had to remove the box springs so she could use the bed. The unit opens directly to the pool and makes the walk to the beach so easy. Tons of towels and extra linens. Big bathrooms. Too bad both faucets and the toilet in the front left bathroom leaked. (Reported in reviews as far back as July 2017.)  Had to keep a towel on the floor to avoid falls. Sheets on bed on front right bedroom had long black hairs upon arrival. Feet were black from walking barefoot inside the unit within 4 hours of arrival. Dirty ceiling fans throughout unit. Ceilings black around ceiling vents. Recliner footrest broken upon arrival. Kitchen well furnished for the amount of cooking we do on vacation. All issues reported on Monday morning as non-urgent issues to the email maintenance address posted prominently on the refrigerator in the unit 36 hours after arrival. I did not push the maintenance issues as I had already incurred a maintenance call (and a reprimand from the rental agent for my lack of patience) when we were locked out leaving the unit upon arrival in 90+ degree heat due to the design of the screen door handle in relationship to the door lock keypad.

Hidden Dunes Unit 104

Room we stayed at was pretty dated, like out of the 70's, stains on carpet, room needed a thorough deep cleaning, pillows in room once we took off pillow cases to check out were stained/filthy, garbage chute was across the hall from us, door stayed open all the time due to excess garbage in it, garbage just piled up on the floor due to chute was too small to take big bags-called front office on this, no answer-left message, never heard back. The sound on TV's kept going up and down for some reason, check in office closes at 6pm, luckily guard shack had our keys and when I say keys I mean the old hard metal keys. Needs a good bit of updating,revamping, CLEANING to bring this place up to par with the other models in town.

Pretty outdated / not very clean

We are very disappointed with the condition of the condo #1304 that we rented at Hidden Dunes! We paid $3,500 for a week to come stay here on vacation and for that price tag, I am shocked at the condition. 

Kitchen: The dishes have to be 25+ years old. The silverware is dirty/old. It is not stocked with appropriate cookware to even cook breakfast. The one griddle maker is falling apart and barely useable to cook eggs.  There isn’t even a cookie sheet/pizza sheet to heat up biscuits or pizza. The appliances are definitely not new like the listing states. 

Master Bedroom: the old, springy mattress is literally the worst mattress I have slept on. It’s uneven and creaky. I’m having terrible hip/back pain because of this mattress. I travel for work regularly and I am very used to different mattresses but this is a whole other level. 

Master bathroom: the grout in the shower is dirty and needs to be redone. 

Living Room: the two light green couches seem dirty and worn. The pillows are old/dirty. We didn’t even want to sit on them. The flooring in ripping up in spots around the edges. There is only 2 pull out couches, not 3 as the listing states. 

Hot tub: we booked this unit because it had a hot tub. You know a hot tub that we were all excited on relaxing in? The listing states a new hot tub has just been added - that hot tub is NOT new! It barely made bubbles and wouldn’t get over 90 degrees. Maintenance came beating on the door and quickly looked at it and said “yeah, I think it needs a control panel. I’m going to have to call pool & spa place out here” and he left. We never heard anything else from him. 

Guest bathroom: the towel bar apparently had been ripped off and just never replaced. 

Save yourself some money and book somewhere else! DO NOT RENT HERE!

I would just like to warn other renters about renting 601 Hidden Dunes.  We tried to rent this condo for a vacation in September.  We put down the deposit and signed the contract.  A week later we received an email from the rental company indicating the owner wanted to raise the weekly rent by $468 above the agreed upon amount.  We were told we could pay the extra, relocate or cancel.  Needless to say we canceled because of the way the transaction was handled.  Evidently this is not uncommon for this condo owner and/or rental agency so beware and rent at your own risk.
