Cole and Mike were outstanding. The location and room were wonderful. We were greeted warmly on a late arrival. Bottle of bubbly in our room for our anniversary trip. Bathroom, bed, linens and room were wonderful.

Great experience and service

Gorgeously renovated historic carriage house! Couldn’t believe how spacious it was and everything was spotless! Julie made us feel very welcome and provided breakfast and delicious baked goods each morning! Loved everything about this place! Hope to come back!

Perfect spot in Charleston 

This place was amazing.  The location is unbeatable, the space is comfortable and luxurious, and the breakfast was yummy.  The Innkeeper makes it such a wonderful stay!  I don't think we could ever stay anywhere else in Charleston!

The BEST place to stay.

We recently stayed at the 21 East Battery Bed and Breakfast for two nights after spending a week in Beaufort, SC. While we had an entire four bedroom home to ourselves in Beaufort, we had almost as much space at 21 East Battery!!

We stayed in their Carriage House, a 2,000 square foot suite containing two large living areas, grand piano, stereo with CD's, dining room with kitchenette, bedroom with a king bed, and a comfortably sized bathroom. It was neat to realize that our accommodations were originally housing  the owner's carriage and his team of horses. The original beam ceilings are beautiful.

It's location is in the heart of The Battery, and we enjoyed watching the sun rise from our outside balcony or our bedroom windows. 

Due to COVID, they pre-stocked our refrigerator and pantry with more than enough to enjoy for breakfast: a scrumptious ham and cheese quiche, four huge cinnamon rolls, yogurt, bananas, apples, orange juice, milk, oatmeal, cereal, hot chocolate and coffee. It was great to simply have our breakfast at our leisure when we wanted to on our first morning and then, when we wanted to leave early for our 10 hour drive home, we could have breakfast at 6:00 AM without disturbing our host or other guests.

It ends up that we had the opportunity to stay at this B&B as well as another B&B in The Battery area the preceding week. They were similarly priced. Comparing the two, this one  provided much more space and amenities for the price, and the other one offered more host interaction. 

We only had one criticism of our accommodations, and it is a minor one. Indeed, it is so minor that we are surprised that the owner has not addressed it. The paint job on the long shower wall looks like it was done by a four or five year old. Trust me, we have a granddaughter who is seven, and she would have done a better job painting that wall. The excess paint should be scraped off the two adjoining walls, and a fresh coat of satin paint should be rolled on the long shower wall.

Massive and wonderful Bed & Breakfast - A Suite Experience!

Wow. This was amazing. I had been to Charleston before, but had not as good experiences with some of the places we stayed - but HOLY COW this was nice. Perfect setting, perfect place, perfect inn keeper (if Julie the inn keeper would be considered an inn keeper since there is only one other room. Highly recommend and this will not be are only visit.

This is as good as it gets.

This was my wife and I second stay here.  The lady that runs this Julie is awesome! She always makes sure we have what we need.  The location from downtown is perfect. When we went downtown we always walked.  We combined this trip with my wife's birthday and New year's Eve on the Yorktown!  Staying here was a perfect end to 2019 and a great start on 2020

We visited Charleston and stayed at 21 East Battery for our 30th wedding anniversary.  We were kindly greeted by Julie the inn keeper.  She gave us suggestions on where to attractions to visit and restaurants to eat at.  The food that was prepared by Julie was delicious and she was very accommodating to our needs.  She even surprised us with a lovely cake for our anniversary!  The accommodations at 21 East Battery were comfortable and it was within walking distance of local attractions, restaurants, shops and amazing historic homes to view!  We would recommend 21 East Battery to family and friends and would absolutely return if staying in the Charleston area again! 

30 anniversary

Charleston is a must. The location at east battery is great. Suite is spacious. Julie helped us to lift  the heavy luggage. up to 1st floor. Her braekfast  is richt. Total: A perfect stay .We'll return.

 The bed-and-breakfast is clean and inviting had lots of character old Charleston  charm .  Julie the innkeeper is helpful and also a very good cook you will enjoy your breakfasts . Location is wonderful all within walking distance to restaurants ,market place etc.

We loved our trip here. Great shopping and all with in walking distance. Great street market with super souvenirs of all sorts. Pet friendly in most shops too
