Very friendly staff, good beers, pool table &darts, games, welcoming atmosphere, good music, lovely juke box. Box ciders, with ice offered on the side. Food is great, arrived promptly, well cooked and delicious. We will definitely come back!

Lovely pub with friends

Been a regular visitor to Swanage all my life and have always enjoyed the White Swan. Sadly I won't be returning after popping in last night. The place looked a chaotic mess, dirty, and much was closed off, it's really gone downhill. They have (had) a nice rear courtyard but we couldn't enjoy the warm evening outside, as the room to the courtyard was in darkness and a chair was placed in the walkway to prevent access. We asked if we could sit outside and was told no. We ordered double drinks with mixers, they were served in very small glasses, making the drinks too strong, so we asked if they could be put in something a little larger to allow a bit more coke, and was shown a dirty pint glass! The place had several very drunk customers, who helped pull the atmosphere down and create a tense vibe. Should be a cracking pub, but is clearly lacking effective management. Wish I had seen the other poor reviews before spending my money there.

Avoid, drastically gone downhill.

This was without doubt one of the most horrendous pubs I’ve ever visited. When ordering the drinks the person behind the bar was busy texting somebody, then she would stop and ask me to repeat my order. The food was severely overpriced and poor at best. To top it all off the bar attendant was busily speaking with customers at a level you needed earplugs. At the end we felt we had suffered enough and left without really eating the food. I would also add the place felt grubby and needed a good clean. Never again.

You’ve been warned.

If I could give a minus score I would have done. The pub food was the worst we have tried in a very long time. We went for the Sunday roast (if you can call it that). The was only chicken on the menu, it came out in two lumps and still attached to the bones. The meal was served in a pasta/soup bowl. There was only a few carrots and broccoli, the bowl was swimming with gravy. The stuffing was not cooked it just looked like they mixed it with water then left them to go hard in the open air. The roast potatoes well I have no idea how they cooked them but they we absolutely rank. And the Yorkshire pudding was a shop bought one not even home made. The pub itself is very run down, the carpet is in a dire need of replacing. We will never be returning. 

Absolutely atrocious food

Still utterly shell shocked about our treatment here over the weekend.

We were celebrating a friends birthday. We had waited over an hour for dishes like chicken bites and chips and so enquired with a lady (im assuming manager or landlord) who bought some of our other dishes out.

Her immediate reaction was to aggressively tell us we hadn’t ordered the dishes we were asking after. We were very shocked, having not thought we would’ve been accused of lying!

We managed to pull up receipts as proof, but this ladies attitude continued to deteriorate. We eventually had to ask if it would be possible just to get a refund as the woman had changed the atmosphere of the day completely and we didn’t want to spend anymore time or money there.

Not one apology was ever received by this woman. On our way out she muttered ‘f*** off then’. I’ve never encountered such a vulgar reaction from a situation like this. I’ve certainly never been sworn at by staff. Despite us being very understanding and letting her know not to worry, that things like this happen and some of us work in the hospitality industry so we understand it gets busy.

This woman really put a downer on my friends big day. We will never be returning and will be spreading the word! We wish we’d managed to get this woman’s name so we can make a formal complaint. Slightly older lady with blonde hair.

I regret not googling this place before we went. All of the bad reviews would’ve persuaded me to go elsewhere!

A very aggressive member of staff created a threatening atmosphere

Absolute sh**e, food REALLY poor.   Cheese wrap with chips £10, literally a wrap from Lidle with grated cheese!  No salad.  Avoid like the plague.  NEVER GO HERE.  Tables sticky, atmosphere poor.  Not a place I would even take mu=y worst enemy.  Beware all who enter!!

A good fun, lots of laughs quiz on Thursday evening - even if I didn’t win :( - seemed to be personally researched and written by quizmaster, who was not adverse to offering up clues!! We had a smashing time, see you next visit.

Great venue, full house but love the atmosphere and vibes.

Awesome Blues Venue

Oh dear, this pub is tired, dirty and has absolutely no atmosphere. To add insult to injury prices for tourists are eye watering, £7.50 for a local real ale and a lime and soda. I can only assume locals don't have the privilege of these prices.
There are plenty of other pubs within a stones throw, try one of these instead, wish I did.

Shocking, avoid

Popped in for lunch on our day out,the place was filthy and absolutely stank, the landlady had a very loud public tantrum and threatened to switch everything off and close. 
We left straight away,  and wouldn't bother to return.
