Very friendly welcome at Ruswarp Hall. Beautiful period house. Grand entrance and staircase. Room’s large and spacious. Bathroom was modern and to a high standard. I’m really fussy about bathrooms! Excellent breakfast selection. Plenty of refills for tea coffee and milk available. Weather was good so we really enjoyed sitting in the gardens with a book and a G& T. Walked along the path into Whitby a couple of times and got a taxi back. Not expensive. The local pub The Bridge served good quality meals in the evenings and the staff were really helpful and friendly. We will be at Ruswarp Hall again. 

A gem of a place

I am so glad that we chose Ruswarp Hall for our stay in Whitby. We booked for bed and breakfast and let the hotel know if advance that we would need dairy and gluten free option. I expected cereal, maybe some toast, but was blown away when the team provided more food than I could eat - all of which was delicious, something which isn’t guaranteed with gluten free breakfasts! The staff were friendly and attentive, the room was clean and comfortable, and we slept well in the large and cosy bed. I really enjoyed the decor as well. Lots to look at in the historic hall.

What a wonderful place. The Hall has so much character and had something to look at everywhere you turn! 
We booked two rooms on different floors. One large room with a sitting room and bathroom and the second was a standard double. 
The rooms were clean and well presented and had lots of space and storage, and  the staff were so helpful and welcoming. 
There was an honesty bar on the ground floor  that overlooked the Hall's gardens.
The location was perfect too,  just a few minutes' drive to Whitby, and there was car parking to the front.
Will definitely visit here again. 


Lots of charm and character!

Stayed here for 2 nights. Loved the peace and quiet of the village - and the fact it was a very pleasant 1.5 mile walk from Whitby. Would recommend taking the Cinder Trail which can be accessed from the path that runs up the side of the hotel. Spectacular views of the Abbey in the distance! Good to have a walk either after a meal at the local Bridge Inn - or to work up an appetite and have a meal in Whitby! Taxi back from Whitby was £7.20. The rooms are spacious and comfortable - good tea and coffee facilities, hairdryer, toiletries, TV and sleep masks/earplugs! Bed very comfy but duvet quite heavy for the summer. We had a room at the front so the traffic could be heard in the morning but wasn’t too disruptive. We had breakfast on the second day - was really good! It’s advertised as continental but has bacon and scrambled egg too. Lovely juice, pastries, fresh fruit, yoghurt, cereals, etc. Make your own toast and waitress brings tea/coffee. Great value at £8.95. There is an honesty bar in the snug - open until 9pm. Bottled beers, miniatures of spirits, individual small bottles of wine, etc. You write down what you take and it’s charged to your room the following day. Beautiful garden out the back, accessed from the snug, with benches and tables. A really lovely, historical place. Thoroughly recommend.

Lovely Georgian building, spacious comfy rooms

Stayed for three nights at Ruswarp Hall and we were so glad that we did. From the warm welcome to the big, comfy king room on the road side to the incredible, historic setting, as soon as we arrived we knew we’d chosen wisely. 
The room was clean, a big bathroom and everything you’d expect in a hotel room was provided.
The lovely lady on reception was able to recommend places to eat (which were all spot on!) and places to see.
We were able to park the car, which is rare in Whitby although Ruswarp Hall is either a mile-ish walk into town or c£7 in a taxi.
We didn’t take advantage of the continental breakfast because we’d rather eat out and explore.
There’s also a nice pub two minutes walk away in this lovely village which does decent food. 
Highly recommend this hotel. We’ll definitely be back.

A brilliant choice for exploring Whitby and the area

Fantastic stay , beautiful building and on suite room . Staff very friendly and welcoming,  great WiFi and lovely breakfast,  will definitely be staying here again . Lovely walk into Whitby along the river Esk with the steam train coming past.

2 night stay

Extremely handy for Whitby and surrounding area. Large comfortable rooms in a quiet child free environment if that is what you like. A friendly, genuine welcome and  quality continental breakfast with staff who are keen to please. 
A snug area with an honesty bar is available and large attractive and secluded garden.

An easy footpath to Whitby (almost 2 miles) saves looking for parking in town and is also accessible for evenings.

superb venue for a relaxing break

Booked 2 rooms as a last minute break, and I couldn't be happier with our stay.  We were made so welcome, and had everything we could possibly need.  The rooms were beautiful, with high quality bedding and fittings, and the comfiest bed I've slept in for ages.  It was the hottest day of the year so far, and each of the rooms had a fan that was more than adequate.  The honesty bar and garden space was fabulous, and all in all, thus was the perfect retreat.  We will absolutely be booking again. Heartily recommended.

Absolutely Perfect Stay - July 2022

Lovely  beautiful surroundings. Only a 30 minute walk into Whitby, very picturesque. Room excellent, gardens lovely. Breakfast was plentiful, all you could eat, set us up for the day. Staff very helpful, No complaints at all. Lovely little railway ticket office just down the road.

Free carpark which is a bonus as we like to walk for miles to explore our surroundings
Whitby was a nice walk from the hotel down the track by the station away from the traffic
We walked further on to Robin Hood Bay from Whitby and jumped on the bus for the last few minutes as we ran out of road!! It was well worth the walk as we had the most amazing fish and chips sat in beautiful surroundings overlooking the sea!
We highly recommend Ruswarp Hall 
and would definitely choose to stay here again on our return visit😍😎
