The cottage I stayed in with my disabled mother had everything that you needed to make the stay easy. The hosts are really friendly and very helpful. The extra little touches were lovely. Would recommend these cottages to anyone. They are so spacious and equipped with everything a disabled person will require to make it feel like they are in their own home.

Thank you Rod and Peggy for our wonderful weekend stay at Crown Cottage. We have found accommodation for disability hard to come by and your bungalow far exceeded our expectation. It had everything we needed and more. The location was central to a lot of local attractions and were easy to get to and we have loads yet to visit. Your information booklet was fab and the delicious lemon drizzle cake was to ‘die’ for. Thank you so much for your hospitality and overall our weekend away was definitely 5 star*****we hope to return in the future, until then stay well. 5 of us stayed in Pound Cottage, 2 of who had physical disabilities including a wheelchair user.  Very accessible, lovely big rooms, wide doors and very clean. Lovely environment to stay for the week.  Easy to be socially distant from anyone else as the properties are a fair distance from each other. Rod and Peggy were very welcoming and the cake we found on our arrival was amazing! Thank you.

Good location too, York is a short journey away with many other locations a short drive.

A very warm welcome awaits you at South Newlands Farm from Peggy and Rod.  Here there are 3 very well equipped and furnished cottages located  approx 10 miles from the city of York .  Should you wish to leave the car at Home there is a bus stop for the city within a very short distance of these cottages. Within the village of Riccall there is a butcher , convenience store and village pub.  All in all, South Newlands Farm cottages is the ideal place for that relaxing rural get away that we all promise ourselves. I have no hesitation in recommending these well maintained  cottages  which are a real credit to their owners. 

Easy access, easy to locate, good pitches on grass or hardstanding (we are caravanners) Easy bus access to York from nearby village.
Water supply arrangements could be improved but other than that a quiet site with plenty to do and see close by.

A friendly welcome awaits you at south newlands farm. Lovely grounds and very peaceful. we were shown around our cottage ( the crown),  by the owner, Rod. The cake, milk and tea coffee sachets was a very kind gesture and much appreciated, a nice touch to make you feel welcome.  The cottage was wonderfully clean and also the bedding was lovely and clean.  Much cleaner than many hotels and other holiday accommodation we have stayed in the last couple of years. The only reason for a 4 star and not a 5 is because of the wet rooms. Both rooms flooded when you used the showers, perhaps due to poor drainage and also the shower temperature dial, you had to continually move around to get the correct temperature as it kept sliding around on its own causing it to go cold and then hot quickly, causing showering to be very difficult and also dangerous. Also, the overhead hoist kept sticking when trying to hoist.  This may be the key pad or maybe just a service needed. Apart from these small issues everything else was excellent. Clean,Spacious, very relaxing and very well set up for a wheelchair user as well as for a person who is also able to transfer independantly, this is all thanks to all the facilities crown cottage has to offer, These facilities included a ceiling hoist, wet rooms, shower chairs and plenty of room to be able to move around adequately. We have found accommodation with the facilities the crown has to offer are very few and far between. So to find south new lands farm with all the resources we required was a delight and did not disappoint.  There is also a very useful utility room for personal use with washing machines and dryers, but you need to have your own washing tabs etc.  Also you may want to take some extra towels of your own as the owners prefer to give out a set amount for the week, but remember you can wash them. The farm is in a very nice quiet place, so good for restful sleep but also well placed for exploring the local area.  Especially York. Whilst on holiday we also had day trips to Bridlington about a hours drive away. A lovely place, nice beach which we preferred to Scarborough which was way to busy and packed, especially in light of the current covid situation. Would also recommend the Pier 6 restaurant near Bridlington harbour for a very nice well priced breakfast or afternoon meal.We also visited the sidings restaurant and hotel about a 20 minute drive very highly recommend a visit, food and service are excellent. Not wheelchair friendly outside though.  The railway museum is also well worth a visit to, due to the current pandemic though not all of the museum was open when we visited. The museum is well worth a visit for anybody not just train buffs.Overall south newlands farm is a lovely place to stay and our family would recommend a holiday here. We enjoyed our time here that much that we did not want to go home. We shall be returning in the near future.
