We stayed here last night. The room was large and modern. Nice bathroom. Shower was difficult to turn on and off. Bed was comfortable. We were in room 1 and it was a bit noisy at night as we were right over the front door where people stood outside and talked.

Very nice room!

The Fortescue has quite a good location, close to the front. As it’s a pub, it can be a little loud. Breakfast was a little disappointing, no juice on offer (although is provided if you ask) , no pastries but yogurt was available on our last day. Cereals  are available plus a cooked breakfast. Service was a little slow. Asked for pancakes one morning but had to wait a while until they came, think  they had to go out to buy them. Would have been nicer if they were freshly cooked. We stayed for 3 nights, the room had tea and coffee facilities but no water or biscuits. The room was not topped up with tea/coffee/toiletries for the whole time we were there. 

Fortescue May visit

Just back from a two night stay.  We had a great time.  We stayed in the dog-friendly  Garden Room which was very comfortable and had a large copper bath.  It was nice to be able to take the dog directly outside, but be warned the stairs to it are steep.  Tea and coffee making facilities are in the room.  Breakfast was first class with great local produce.  And we ate dinner in twice, enjoying the food very much, especially the pizzas.  (We booked.  Even in February the dining room was full.)

Negotiating Salcombe by car is tricky, and the roads near the Inn are tiny.  But we were able to load and unload then take the car to a nearby car park making use of the permit provided by the hotel. 

Staff were all really friendly and helpful.

Lovely place

We had a great stay here for one night.  Had lunch and dinner, both were excellent and good value. The staff are absolutely lovely, Alex and Edith were very friendly and super efficient. We were also provided with a permit for the nearby Sandycombe car park that is a five minute walk from the pub.

Excellent food, a good choice, gluten free options too. Good price too. 
A cool vibe, very friendly and helpful staff.

Early dinner

We stayed at the Fortescue Inn for a wedding, when checking in and discussing we were attending a wedding with the staff member there was no mention of accessing the hotel out of hours. When we tried to get in around 2am the Inn was locked up and the key didn't work on the front door. We tried ringing the number and knocking on the door with no luck. After an hour of waiting to get in, a member of staff finally let us in through the back going past some heavy duty bins - we'd have never have found this entrance on our own. The most disappointing thing about this is we were asked to feedback our experience before leaving a review. I emailed three times on an email address they had previously replied to and received no reply. There appears to be no interest or acknowledgement in our feedback about not wanting this to happen to other guests.

Locked out of accommodation

Stayed just one night accommodation very clean and comfortable. Very good menu choice excellent meal fresh produce fish platter was superb again the breakfast was very good. Would definitely stay again if the opportunity appears. staff friendly seem happy to have you v stay with them which is not always the case.

Excellent Value

Stayed in room 1 for 3 nights over the new year and thoroughly enjoyed the stay.
Room was very comfortable with nice king size bed, and great en suit bathroom.
We come down regularly each year in the summer and thought we would try the new year experience for a change, and we were not disappointed, plenty of people around so wasn't too quiet.
Breakfast was included and good and surprisingly even though it is a pub we couldn't hear anything from our room even though our room is next to the kitchen.
Would definitely come back and would highly recommend.

Very good hotel in great location

Stayed for four nights - everything was fantastic - really impressed - comfortable clean well appointed rooms, food is fantastic , service is even better , dog friendly  and Salcombe is a great place - thank you Team Fort !

Brilliant!

Upon arrival, we were told there had been a problem with our room, so they were going to put us in a small apartment located at the back of the restaurant and it was excellent. Comfy bed, kitchen area, brilliant bath and shower and dog friendly. Couldn't fault it. Even the sausage sandwich in the morning was perfect. Will definitely come back here.
