1951 reviewsMyself and hubby recently stayed at The Mermaid Inn for 2 nights. It was a great experience, the room was immaculately clean, full of old world character, the bed was really comfortable so we slept really well both nights. We didn’t use the restaurant for our evening meals but we had breakfast included in our package and that was excellent. Sadly we didn’t see any ghosts but I guess that’s out of the hotels control! Maybe ours was just a bit shy. But the real difference of this hotel and what really makes it stand out are the staff. They were all amazing and just couldn’t do enough to help. Even as we pulled into the car park a team member came bounding over to us to welcome us and ask if we needed help with our luggage, then we were walked to reception to check in and the ladies manning reception were so lovely, friendly and chatty, they then had a porter take us to our room and he was absolutely delightful, really friendly and chatty. A couple of the cleaners stopped to have a chat during our stay and asked us if we were happy with everything, and all of the staff in the restaurant were just delightful. What is so unusual is that EVERY SINGLE team member we met were just exceptionally helpful and friendly, not one member of staff was less than outstanding. It’s such a rare thing to find and I’ve only experienced that before in a couple of 5* hotels I’ve been lucky to stay at. This however is no coincidence and the direction and style of service is always set by those who are ultimately in charge, so whoever that is is doing an amazing job and I hope is proud of their phenomenal team. We will definitely be returning, hopefully this time we’ll see a ghost too!!
