The room was spotless and the bed comfortable.  The staff are friendly and easily answer any questions.  Breakfast was good.  Parking can be a problem in Plymouth as often hotels have none, but The Drake does.  They were happy for us parking there after we checked out, till middle of the afternoon for no extra charge.

Good choice

Great location, very clean, modern building, comfy beds, good breakfast, staff go out of their way to help. Parking is a bonus in this area. I would highly recommend The Drake Hotel and will stay there again.

Perfect place to stay in Plymouth, great location, great rooms, lovely breakfast and friendly staff. Highly recommended this place and refreshing change from staying at a chain hotel, nothing was too much trouble! 

Great place to stay! 

WOW!!!  I cannot begin to tell you how wonderful this hotel is. The hotel itself is absolutely stunning having just been completely renovated. The rooms are lovely and spacious with a wonderful shower and extremely comfortable beds. As we arrived late due to a late booking and bad traffic, the manager Kevin came back from home especially to let us in. That is above and beyond especially as it was after 1am in the morning. He was so lovely and did everything to make us comfortable even coming with us to park our car. In the morning we met other staff who were also fantastic. Breakfast was great as was the coffee. We are from Australia but we will definitely return. Thank you again Kevin, you and your hotel truly are amazing.

An amazing hotel with incredible Management and staff.

The staff were very pleasant, attentive and informative with regards to what to do in and around Plymouth. The hotel was spotlessly clean, as was my room and the bathroom which was modern and appeared to have been recently renewed. Shower was excellent. Breakfast was very good. Great location literally 50 metres from the famous bowls green on Plymouth Hoe.

A lovely hotel, clean and friendly

From start to finish what a wonderfully clean and fresh hotel. Receptionist lovely and friendly and nothing too much trouble for the nice young lady. Room was immaculate and clearly newly refurbished it was small but totally adequate for our 1 night stay. Shower amazing and totally spotless with tea and coffee facilities. The whole hotel is spotlessly clean and as an ex serviceman it was lovely to see. Breakfast amazing and such a huge choice. Compliments to the chef and staff who again were really friendly and went above and beyond. My Mrs ordered the wrong egg and the member of staff changed it without any fuss at all. Seriously if you want a decent hotel at a decent price then look no further than the drake hotel. Hoe is 2 mins walk town 5 mins walk its literally just perfect and the staff totally amazing. Well done to the drake hotel and me and the Mrs will be returning for sure thanks 

A must visit simply wow

We really enjoyed our stay here the reception staff were excellent so kind and helpful.
Our room was so comfortable with plenty of seating and good heating.
The standard of cleanliness in the room when we arrived was very high.
Breakfast was delicious.
We would certainly return. 

Lovely hotel in a perfect location for a first time visit to Plymouth,

Booked this hotel based on good reviews and pictures of spacious and lovely looking rooms online. 

Unfortunately the reality wasn’t like that. A tired and scruffy room on the 2nd floor. Dirty carpets. Roof panels missing in bathroom and feeble shower. Electrical sockets loose on walls and none easily accessible from bedside.
Hardly enough room to squeeze past the corner of the (uncomfortable) bed and get into the room. 

Lots of mention of refurbishment going on but it obviously hadn’t reached our room. 

The location is good and the staff were friendly (although didn’t appear overly interested).

The breakfast was average at best. 

However, for the price paid (£132 direct to hotel) I was disappointed and wouldn’t return.

Shabby and disappointing

Our room was not quite so nice as the room we had on a previous visit and felt a little cramped. There was also a little noise from the road outside which was to be expected with a room at the front of the hotel. We felt that the quality of the ingredients for the cooked breakfast, both vegetarian and meat variety, could have been better. All in all a very pleasant stay with even a birthday card and a bottle of wine from the management !

Really warm welcome

Very clean and friendly . Great location for what we wanted to do and a very good breakfast ... 
Easy access to the Hoe and the Barbican and very close to where we were working .. Thanks for a great few days.
