We are a Family of 8 and came to watermouth lodges and the surrounding area from Wales for the very first time, there is plenty to do on site and the amazing castle with its attractions is just a Stone throw away. We enjoyed our stay and are looking forward to coming back in 2025 (if the lodge is available!!)

Amazing time in and around watermouth Lodge's

Beautiful large lodge, we stayed in lodge 35 which was a 4 bed including hot tub, decking and enclosed garden which was perfect for the dogs. We had a lovely peaceful time away with stunning coastal walks straight from the site, it was only let down by the awfully patchy WiFi and the fact that the restaurant wasn’t open which we didn’t know when we booked the lodge in advance as it only shows you opening times up to 2 months on website, so just be aware if you book out of season there are very limited facilities. Fortunately for us we were able to go to the Sawmill restaurant which had opened the week before down the road which is just a 10 minute walk away.

Beautiful lodges with stunning costal walks

A lovely lodge overlooking the treetops with a private hot tub. Who could fault it?  The lodge was warm and cosy with all facilities and equipment you could want for a short escape.  Good walks, pubs restaurants and shopping nearby, though I wouldn’t necessarily recommend Ilfracombe in the winter months. If the weather is poor, a visit to Barnstaple would be a better bet!

Very nice lodge, with large deck. Bathrooms (2) appeared to be recently refurbished and had plenty of shelves for toiletries.
Very quiet location.
Reception staff very helpful and friendly.
Cosy warm lodge, which helped with the horrible weather we had.
Beautiful beaches nearby and selection of places to eat.

A great stay despite the rain

What a fantastic place to visit for couples and families alike. My husband and I stayed here when it was out if season for them but we had a fantastic time. Our lodge was perfect with an amazing view overlooking the estuary and the sea which was amazing and enjoyed by us while having a glass of bubbly in our private hot tub. Our lodge was very clean and because it was February was lovely and warm when we arrived. Our lodge was also dog friendly and Douglas enjoyed our private decking area and listening to the birds in the morning. We will definitely be booking again hopefully in the same lodge🤞. An absolute little gem of a place with Ilfracombe and coombe Martin not far away for beach and coastal walks for dog lovers. We absolutely loved it ❤️

Fantastic place with fantastic views

Had the best long weekend at the lodges. Fabulous lodge, No. 41. Very spacious in all areas. Very clean. Catered for our every need. 2 bathrooms, a bonus for 3 couples. Comfy beds. Comfy sofas. Lovely partial views of sea. Easy access to attend a wedding at Watermouth Cove. Ate on site one evening and enjoyed the bar/restaurant area & food. Definitely coming back next year with family, who will love Watermouth Castle themed park on the doorstep. 

Executive Lodge with partial sea views

We enjoyed our stay.  We were made to feel very welcome by the staff and our lodge was warm, clean and cosy.  We loved the hot tub and playing pool in the bar area.  It was great to be able to take the dog and there were nice paths to walk the dog on.  The park was only a short journey to Hele beach which is a dog friendly  beach with easy, good value parking.  We spent our time paddle boarding and rock pooling.  If only the sun had shone!!! 

Value for money

The lodge was clean and very well equipped.  The check in at 5pm was disappointing and frustrating after a long journey.  Check in could be earlier if you were willing to pay an extra £10 hour.
The lack of a mobile phone signal, (I am O2) was annoying, as you have to drive to find a signal.
We were on a short break so did not use the bar or pool, but the scenery and birdsong was a delight.


Lovely and peaceful with great sea views.

We stayed in lodge 43, the next but last one up the hill. It didn't have a decent wi-fi signal and all too often we didn't get any internet connection. The property was dated and dark, it didn't let much light in and there is no garden of which to speak. There is a decking area outside but the view is obscured by tall trees. We paid a lot of money for this cabin and expected it to be lush and top class - well we were left disappointed. The boiler lost pressure during our stay, fortunately my husband was able to fix this himself. Otherwise we'd have had to wait for an engineer and be without hot water until it was fixed. I can honestly say the only thing nice about the cabin was the lovely soft towels provided. As for the onsite facilities - don't bother. The outdoor pool was cold on a couple of days because the breaker switch had tripped. That meant the hot shower wasn't working in the changing room either. There was no indoor swimming pool as apparently this was in the process of a refurb. The indoor soft play area for the kids is very basic and the outdoor play area is also small and minimalist. We won't be staying here again. The area is beautiful as are the water sports on offer around here so if you are visiting then book a holiday cottage or something through another provider. You'll likely get more for your money.

Overpriced

lovley site, well kept and maintained we were very lucky to have such good weather when we stayed  the lodge had everything you needed , would have been nice if there had been a shop on site where you could purchase milk, bread etc Ilfracombe itself was a real let down, the harbour was good and so was the front,but the shops were run down and some closed down ,
