Stayed at the Swiss House for over a week. The hotel is amazing and I can honestly say nothing was ever too much trouble. Matt and his amazing team were attentive and treated us as friends. Breakfast in the morning was from 8.30 am and is the best breakfast we’ve had anywhere. 

Breakfast was fresh fruits, cereals, toast and preserves, fruit juices and the best coffee around. This would normally be enough, but after comes the full English.  All items are locally sourced and amazing quality. A big shout out goes to their black pudding, bacon, sausages, fried bread and mushrooms which are stunning and perfectly cooked. We also had their Glamorgan sausages one morning which were stunning . 

Best of all was once you’ve had breakfast you’re set up for the day, and most days we didn’t eat a meal until the evening. 

Our room had amazing views of both Mam Tor and also the castle and was peacefully quiet. We loved the layout and the well stocked tea and coffee station. The fan was a welcome edition as the weather was glorious when we were there. The room was also immaculately clean.

There is plenty of parking at the hotel and they have recently started doing food in the evening. The quality of food delivered by Matt and the team was amazing and we ate there probably 50% of the time. 

The bar is well stocked and Rowan is an amazing barman who was so attentive. The prices are the best in Castleton without a shadow of doubt, with live sports showing on at least 3 screens. 

We had managed to make a large purchase on our way up to our stay, and Matt was amazing and offered to store it for us so we didn’t have to take it to our room or leave it in the car. Service above and beyond is what the Swiss House delivers. 

This is the 3rd time we have stayed and wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. A fantastic stay, in a great location with amazing staff and the best food and drink in Castleton.

Derbyshires hidden gem

Great base to explore the area. Castleton has lots of pubs to try. We had food at a few and they were all good. Lots of walks from the village and within a short drive. We also visited Treak Cliff cavern which we enjoyed. 

We had room 6 which was clean and spacious. Had everything we needed. Bed was massive and comfortable. Couldn't hear any noise from the bar downstairs . Lots of choices for breakfast which were all tasty. Extra bonus was getting 10% off in the bar downstairs. We felt it was good value for the area. We would stay again. 

Great base

Arrived early and staff were very accommodating about leaving our car prior to check in  which was a nice touch. Check in was friendly, quick and easy. We stayed in room 8 on the top floor, large comfortable room and very clean. The bed was nice and comfy and plenty of tea and coffee provided. Our stay was quiet and the view from our room was lovely, looking onto the castle and Mam tor. The breakfast was amazing, they really have thought of everything. The staff were lovely. This place is very nicely located for everything in castleton, we'll definitely be staying again.

Lovely stay, couldn't wish for any better

Really enjoyed our stay at the Swiss House, friendly staff, clean and tidy large en-suite bedroom, nice location and great breakfast in the morning as well … can’t think of any negatives really. Thanks very much, and hope to see you again 👍👍👍

Weekend Break Dec23

Swiss House Hotel is ideal for walking weekends. Comfortable rooms with up to 4 single beds per room. The bar is an excellent recent addition, with good beer. Breakfasts are fantastic! The location is ideal, within a quick walk to all of Castleton's pubs and attractions.

Comfortable, good-value hotel with excellent facilities for tourists

Great place to stay. Room 6 was very large and bed even larger (super king size). Room was dark and quiet, no noise from anywhere. Cooked breakfast was delicious. Great location for castleton, Mam Tor, walk down the river to Hope and the bus stop back from Hathersage.  Very helpful hosts. Would definitely recommend 

Great place to stay

Amazing stay at this hotel. The room was immaculate and cleaned on request to a high standard. The staff were friendly and  accommodating. We wanted to go out early one morning and would miss breakfast so one of the owners offer to make fresh sandwiches for us to take which was a lovely, thoughtful touch 
The room itself was spacious with one view to the mountains and the other to the castle. It had everything you could want including fan, hairdryer and generous tea tray. The shower was powerful and easy to operate.
The hotel boasts plenty of parking on both sides and you have your own key to come and go as you please. 
What sets it apart from all other hotels I have stayed at was the amazing breakfast. With tea / coffee / juices, fresh fruit, cereals, toast and that was all before the plentiful cooked breakfast, cooked fresh to order. Faultless. 
Can’t wait to return, so we’ve booked a week on September to stay again. Thanks for an amazing stay

Family run hotel with the personal touch

Clean, well kept B&B.  Room was tidy and clean.  Secure bike storage with Electric MTB charging facilities.  Welcoming staff.  Good choice at Breakfast (please make the sausages and black pudding gluten free).  Good selection of beers and cider in the bar.
