I recently went on work walking trip to Isle of Wight. We booked the Freshwater Bay House, as our accommodation for 3 nights/4days. The service was exceptional. The staff are very friendly, the food served was fresh and had a new menu everyday. The staff attended to all 66 of us with such love and care. They also had a boot room, where we could wash, clean and dry our boots after each walk. The house is located at the perfect location, where your surrounded with lovely greenery and a beautiful view of the sea.

Home Away From Home

We thoroughly enjoyed our week of walking and fun at this lovely country hotel. Every detail was looked after, the service was so friendly and accommodating and the rooms were very comfortable. Tony the general manager and his team were very professional and efficient, but made everything seem relaxed and easy. Thank you to our walk leaders - Neil, Lesley and Theresa for taking us on such varied and interesting walks. We really enjoyed our week!

A Wonderful Week..

We visited Freshwater Bay Hotel Isle of Wight  for a 4 day walking / sightseeing long weekend. The hotel is clean and well maintained. The manager there is fantastic! Nothing is too much trouble for him. He is always courteous friendly and resolves all problems! He heads the most amazing team everyone is there to make your holiday the best ever. And under his guidance this is achieved 100%. We were lucky enough to have Sue & Mark as our guides and they made our holiday from being very knowledgeable about the area to entertaining us after dinner. 
Altogether the HF team surpassed our expectations!! Thank you !!

Magnificent hotel !!

Went with a group of 31 (mature) cyclists, we planned our own rides. Island a bit lumpy and most rides limited to going in an easterly direction. However it was a great holiday and most participants are wanting to do something similar next year.
We had a superior room (No 39) with stunning views. Large room with large bathroom overlooked swimming pool and sea/cliffs (see photo).
The hotel is ion a superb position, the food was excellent and the staff extremely friendly and helpful.
Highly recommended for an 'activity' holiday.

Great holiday after a long wait

Lovely comfortable hotel which worked well as a walking holiday base. Beautiful sea views from the bedroom and comfy bed. steps from the garden to the beach to go for a swim or use of outdoor pool. Excellent staff team who were helpful and tasty food

Walking holiday

We received a very warm welcome, the staff could not do enough. The room was very tastefully furnished and decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The menu very varied with plenty of choice, and the selection available for walkers' packed lunches was very wide-ranging. Beautiful views from lawn - a great place for a pre-dinner drink. Just across the lawn were steps down to the beach and, if you didn't fancy the beach, there was a heated outdoor swimming pool. The only thing I missed was an outside shower to get rid of the salt/sand on the way back from the beach.

Lovely base for a walking holiday

Great location, steps down to the beach, and a good size heated pool.
The room was very clean and spacious. 
Food first class and exceptional staff.
The manager organise a very special request from us without any problem.
The walks were well run with knowledgeable guides.
This holiday is great value for money.

Walking Holiday

I  stayed at the Freshwater Bay Country House as part of an HF Discovery Tour of the Isle of Wight. This was the first HF holiday I had been on and I wasn't disappointed. From the help in with the cases from one of the volunteers, to the provision of extra milk in the rooms, to the fun and games in the evening, this is the kind of holiday you can go on on your own, with family, or in a group, and feel just as much a part of the crowd.

The room was really comfortable, clean and modern, as was the bathroom. One small point, can we have shelves or surfaces to put wash-bags on in the bathroom please?

Our volunteer leader for the week, Audrey, was approachable, knowledgeable and really good fun. All the staff went the extra mile to make us feel comfortable, and the facilities were absolutely fabulous from top to bottom. I even had a tinkle on the grand piano one afternoon.

The food was a bit hit and miss, but hearty and filling with generous portions. There was plenty of choice and the packed lunches were absolutely fabulous.

I would recommend HF and this hotel in particular to anyone. I had a lovely time and would definitely go back.

A comfortable and friendly hotel in a spectacular setting

Lovely view on freshwater front. Perfect for a summer BBQ with friends or as a couple, lovely view. Nice little cafe close by and an adventure co-steering type activity hut. I don’t know about the prices for that, would have to go online.

Freshwater beach

This is a hotel owned by HF Holidays which is a co-operative charity organising walking holidays in the UK.  Most residents are on organised walking holidays but there is a wide mix of people simply using it as a hotel, for example when we were staying there a group of German students were using it for a language school.  Whilst no one is intrusive people are very friendly and if you are in the bar in the evening you will always find a friendly like-minded person to put the world to rights.....

The hotel is probably the best appointed hotel on the Isle of Wight right on Freshwater bay just a few steps down to the beach.  It has large heated open-air pool and extensive grounds just at the bottom of Tennyson Down.

The outstanding thing about the hotel is its staff, the manager could not do enough to help guests and in turn his friendly and helpful attitude permeates through all the staff.  Food is excellent, with a wide range of choice and the rooms are spotless.  This is an old building which has recently been decorated but don't expect a five star luxury building - then again you don't pay for that!

If you are looking for accommodation with good food, where you will be cared not feel isolated and yet be able to do your own thing this is the place for you.
