The Cormorant Hotel

We thoroughly enjoyed our couple of nights here....peaceful location with lovely views from our room of the river. We were so happy with our decision to stay here, our room was spotlessly clean,very comfortable & car parking included. Breakfast was included in our tariff & was fantastic.Both hot & cold dishes available & spoilt for choice from the breakfast menu...delicious. Lovely walking track into the centre of Fowey & the hotel booked a taxi for our return...perfect.We found the staff to be friendly & helpful, great pub down the road for more casual dining....but be aware the driveway here is very steep. Reasonable rates, Highly recommended.

Very nice view. Very quiet and ideal for a silent night outside town. Rooms are modern equipped and nice decorated. Restaurant and Dinner was fantastic . Rooms very clean and modern and absolute to recommend !

This was such a lovely find.
Gorgeous little hotel with stunning views over the River Fowey. 
Maybe the hotel was a little dated in places, but that was very much a part of its charm. 
The hotel manager was an absolute star - so welcoming, friendly and professional.
The room was reasonably spacious, and whilst it was one of the more economical rooms it still had an amazing panoramic river view.
Sound proofing was awful sadly - we could hear every word of the people in the room next door!
A nice touch to find a fridge in the room, with fresh milk for tea & coffee.
Absolutely delicious dinner in a relaxed and well appointed restaurant, at a good price.
Great breakfast too, though it would have been nice to see a bit more choice on the buffet table.
A lovely woodland walk from the hotel into Fowey.
The staff were friendly, charming and professional, except the lady on reception when we checked out, who was a little cold to be honest. Last impressions count as much as first impressions! 


We had visited Fowey and decided to call at this hotel for lunch.  It was a beautiful sunny day and the views of the River Fowey from the restaurant were stunning.  The staff were very welcoming and friendly.  Both our lunches were superb, my husbands hake was excellent.  It was a perfect start to our holiday.

Great Location and View!

Let's start with the positives,

1st of all the location and the views are amazing.

2nd the staff in the evening we arrived young blonde lady extremely helpful, even offered to take my bag even though I was twice her size and could easily manage.

3rd the rooms although few negatives (come to that in a mo) are really nice rooms,  well stocked and good large rooms.

4th breakfast was really really tasty, I suspect if the restaurant had been open the food would of also been fantastic.

I'm afraid here are the negatives, they are all easily rectifable things that in my opinion should never of occured, it would of easily made this place a 5 circle review place to stay.

1st of all the extractor room in room 9, was awfully noisy, to the point of you turned the shaver light on so you didnt hear the noise when going to the bathroom.

2nd the corridor ceiling is leaking in several places, that isn't a great advertisement for the hotel.

3rd of all the mattress you could feel the springs something that could of been easily avoided if just added a mattress topper, I'm afraid gave me a awful back in the morning.

4th the TV to the side of the room was the smallest I've ever seen, dont get me wrong I was happy to just look at the river but for a few quid more could of upgraded to even a 19inch TV would of been satisfactory, once dark and in bed.

5th and I'm afraid this is the one that done it for me, the lady in the morning as we were leaving, instead of asking if we had enjoyed our stay seemed more concerned if we had anything from the minibar.

This hotel is beautiful dated but beautiful, but I couldn't bring myself to rate a place which should be great, great with these awful things going wrong.

I will also mention that I appreciate things are hard, the hotel should of been really busy its Easter week, but some of these issues could of been addressed at low cost, I would of been happy to pay a higher cost to of received a better stay.

I would like to come back I hope these comments are received as constructive criticism and not as a complaint.
