I was incredibly pleasantly surprised. I booked on recommendation but wasn’t expecting much for £59. I couldn’t have been more wrong. Welcoming, spotlessly clean, a huge bed with lovely crisp sheets in a beautiful room. I’m only sad that because I had to work I couldn’t spend longer there. My partner said the breakfast was also excellent. I would absolutely stay again and recommend.

I am honestly amazed, the staff and the facilities were absolutely amazing. The room we were staying is was clean and fresh making the experience much nicer. We are down visiting family and I was not disappointed with the hotel. The breakfast was absolutely amazing and very local to the beach which was an incredible bonus. Will definitely be coming back so soon!

Incredible Facility’s and extremely clean, quiet and friendly

This is the 2nd time we have stayed at this lovely little hotel. We were going to a show at the pavilions theatre so ideal walking distance. Also close to the seafront and town centre.  Nice clean room with a big TV and a very comfy bed!  Full English breakfast was well cooked and staff friendly and helpful. Well recommended...

Great hotel!

From the moment I stepped into the hotel until I left, I was made welcome by everyone. Great service and room was quiet and just right for my needs. 

Front desk and kitchen were terrific and the bar staff helped generate a lovely buzzy atmosphere with the guests who were a great mix of people yet enjoyed the banter.

Best hotel in Exmouth. Owner and staff went above and beyond to make our stay perfect. Ideal location, very comfortable room with incredibly comfortable bed and good breakfast. The hotel was very tastefully decorated and clean. Thanks to Jo and her team for a fabulous stay.

Great stay 

Room was amazing and a very comfortable bed. The cleanliness was 100% and nothing was left to chance.
Jo and her team do an amazing job here and really look after you.
Parking was great and ease of access to the hotel.
The entrance to the hotel is beautifully presented and the parrot is a great hit.

Surprise break

My partner and I stayed at this hotel this last week.  From the moment we walked through the door we were greeted by professional, Helpful and caring staff..  my partner is in a wheelchair and we were given Room 20 on the ground floor it was spotlessly clean , beautiful thick white fluffy towels, soap, shampoo , conditioner , Hairdryer . The bed was so comfortable, Tea & Coffee facilities Biscuits ,lovely telly and chairs to relax in.  The Breakfast had a really good selection from cereals, fruits, yoghurt, Danish pastries and that’s just to start.  You had a choice of a lovely cooked breakfast , toast gluten free bread as well, fruit juices tea coffee normal or decaffeinate . Nothing was to much trouble the owner and staff so very very professional.  The rooms were cleaned to a very high standard each day. If you wanted to have a Chinese or Indian or bring fish and chips inn you could eat in the bar another lovely place also if you wished to have a drink in the bar of a evening the staff were always there with a smile .  Every member of staff that works for this hotel are so dedicated and lovely.  If you want to walk to the beach it’s 3 minutes from the hotel and 5 minutes to the shop.  This is a hotel my partner and I shall definitely be returning to .  A special Hello goes to Harriet .

Fabulous

Stayed in July in room 25. Lovely spacious room. Curtains very transparent, had to buy sleeping mask. Could have done with blackout screens for my liking. Provided extra fan for the baby (during the heatwave), no problem.
Shower was very difficult to calibrate: hot one moment, scalding the next, freezing cold the next. There is a sticker on the wall alerting to the fact it can be temperamental, but couldn't get it to work satisfactorily; didn't matter how much my husband and I twidled with it.
Light over sink didn't work. We did state this at reception. Handyman was meant to fix it the day before we left, but when we returned after being out all day, it still hadn't been fixed.
Personally speaking, breakfast was far too late for my liking at 8:30. The curtains were very thin and all the light coming in woke our baby up early (one day at 6 in the morning), it was a long slog to reach the 8:30 breakfast time in this situation.
Preorder breakfast ok, but got order wrong a couple of times. Fried breakfast was a bit greasy. Muffins etc. were prepackaged and not very nice. Nobody there on Sunday afternoon and no obvious system for depositing the preorder breakfast sheets; weren't the only ones caught out.
Staff friendly, prebooked parking onsite a nice addition, as were travelling from the continent and had a lot of stuff to carry with the baby. Bed was confortable.

Visited with a 9-month-old

The Dolphin Hotel is very charming! We stayed there the night before starting a hiking trip along the Jurassic Coast to Lyme Regis, and it was the perfect place to get us ready. The location is great for wandering along the shore (of both the sea and the mouth of the river), and it is easy to walk there from the train station downtown. The hotel is very well kept, nicely decorated, and fresh. The woman with the dark hair at the front desk (so sorry I never got her name!) was really helpful and sweet. We loved our fish and chips dinner, which we brought back to the Hotel to eat. Because it was a beautiful evening, we sat out front and watched the seagulls as we ate. There was a cozy little bar inside the hotel, and a cricket club was staying for the night before a tournament, which made things quite lively. We also met the owner, who had lots of advice about our walk and very friendly. The room itself was beautiful, freshly renovated, large, and very clean, with great bay windows over the charming street. Can't recommend the Dolphin enough if you are in Exmouth!
