Hotel on top of a nightclub that finished approx 03:30. 
Room was clean and tidy. Staff, lovely. Location, awful.

Avoid if you like to sleep

The hotel is on top of and next to two very loud nightclubs. Our first night we didn’t sleep at all because our room faced the street outside and the music from the nightclub blared all night - not to mention the shouting and screaming of drunk people outside. The windows provided no sound proofing. The website did not state anywhere that it was situated on top of a nightclub. There was rarely anyone on reception to speak to, we had to wait a while for a member of staff to show up. For example, our room had an empty shampoo dispenser and there was no one to report this to whenever we walked through reception. When we asked to move rooms for our second night, the staff member didn’t even ask why because I think she knew it was because it was incredibly loud the night before. It was a very expensive stay for how poor our experience was.

Loud - and expensive

Room was not clean. Previous guests’ dirty bedding still on bed, coffee cups  still dirty. Previous guests’ towels still in bathroom. Changed rooms 10pm. Went back to Room 1 next day. Literally no sleep due to loud noise from nightclub. Fire alarm and hotel evacuated early morning. I don’t think any toilets or sinks have ever seen any bleach by the looks of staining. Worst experience ever at a hotel. No apology from Manager. Would like a refund but nothing offered. 

Horrendous!

About 5 minutes walk in different directions to many of Baths attractions, I don't think you could get much better location wise. There is a nightclub next door so bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper and staying at the weekend. The room was clean and well designed, I believe they've had a makeover and now more contemporary and comfy, compared to the basic ones of the past. It would be nice to have the option to choose twin beds as I had to share a double with my mother. Staff were friendly and professional.

Underwhelming experience

Hotel was fine basic but great for a one night stop over breaking up our journey to Cornwall from Essex. Only disappointment was no onsite parking even though the information email stated there was chargeable parking on site so had to park in a local car park in the town.  

Good stay over

Located in the enchanting, historic city of Bath next to bars and clubs which will suit you if you don't need to sleep at night. Not recommended if you need parking nearby and not really recommended at all unless your needs are basic and you have no standards. Staff were doing their best but the place needs a complete refurbishment.

Shabby without the chic

Overall it wasn’t too bad in the hotel. However there was internal/external construction on my second day and I had to wait for the builders to move their ladders to be able to go up and down the stairs. The lift was also out of order and walking up and down 3 flights of stairs left me in a great deal of pain as I due suffer from a knee injury. Overall though it was a nice hotel with friendly staff and located at the top of bath’s city centre; so I was able to get around very easily. 

An average stay

Wish I had read the reviews before I stayed for four nights 😬 the Travelodge had mentioned that the lift was not working so if your unfortunate enough to be on the top floor that means you need to be able to walk up 6 flights of stairs with your suit cases, but they didn’t warn us about the night club adjoining next door, around 11am it all kicks off boom boom boom and goes on till 1am some time 2am with screaming and shouting in the street below. We were lucky enough to have lovely weather but unfortunately couldn’t leave the window open because of all the racket going on and my goodness it was hot in our room, the dirty fan only blew the warm air around our very dirty room. I won’t mention the dirty bathroom or lack of basic hand soap, I bought a bottle of bleach to clean the toilet and clean the drains in the bath and sink. Absolutely disgusting . How can they expect people to pay good money for this diabolical service. 

NEEDS CLOSING DOWN

Good points: staff were as helpful as they could be and very pleasant. 
The bed was comfortable.

Bad points: the whole place is shabby and run down and gives the impression that the company have given up on this site ( we’ve stayed in other travelodges and they are well maintained and looked after). 

Everything in this hotel is run down.. staircase smells bad, and has unrepaired boarded up window. 
Bathroom fixtures like the toilet and basin are in need of replacement.

Worst things: the awful loud club music from the basement Club Zero goes on from midnight to 4am when it gets worse at chuck out time in the street. 

The lift doesn’t work and apparently hadn’t done for a long time.

We asked for a change of room to be at the back of the building to escape the loud music and we’re told there are maintenance issues in the empty rooms.

Sorry Travelodge this is a bad review but I’ll never stay here again.
