Very nice and comfortable,terrific views and extremely helpful couple (Lisa & Simon) who were fantastic in every possible way.A newsagent available for all your little groceries and all shops nearby.Superb all the way !!!

Fantastic stay !!!

Stayed here for two days ,it was my first visit to the Ambleside and the lakes we where well looked after by the owners Lisa and Simon the only thing missing is Breakfast which is not included in the £100 stay but this is quoted in the price.The room is ok and Sky channels are included (movies) there's also dvds if you want to watch them but we were out most of the time.All the pubs are just up the hill and Lake Windermere is a 10 min walk and is a deffinate must to do.Also there is parking (one place) at the side of the Fell View so its preaty good value.All in all we had a really good time and are hoping to return at the end of August ,once again a big thanks especially to Lisa for making us so wellcome into there home as well as being as guest house.

Excellent

I stayed here with my husband for 2 nights in October 2014. We wanted a cheap and cheerful getaway, and Fell View appealed to us because of the competitive pricing (£45 per night) and the good reviews already on Tripadvisor. 
We weren't expecting anything amazing, but when we arrived our expectations were exceeded straight away. The manageress was very welcoming, showing us to our room and explaining where everything was and how everything worked before leaving us to our own devices. (She also advised on parking - I think they do have a free space for the use of guests, but we had already hastily paid £15 for 3 days' parking at the pay & display around the corner! Make sure you ask about the free parking before you stay!)
The room was bigger than we expected, as well as being clean and comfortable. The amenities provided definitely made us feel like we got value for money: fridge with milk provided, tea/coffee & kettle, bowl of fruit, Nintendo Wii & games, DVD player, Sky Movies, free wifi, plates and cutlery, microwave.... There was even a coffee machine on the landing, plus little cup-a-soups and hot chocolates for guests' use. There was also a sizeable selection of DVDs. If we had wanted to just stay in the room for 2 days, we could have done so and not been bored!
The location is great, situated just above the owners' newsagency - so you can pop down there for more milk, etc, if needed. Ambleside is pretty small, so it's just a short walk to anywhere in the town; and only a 5-10 minute walk to Lake Windermere.
Overall: we had a lovely, comfortable stay at Fell View. OK, so it wasn't anything luxurious - but if you want luxury, you have to be prepared to pay for it! This was affordable, the service was great, and value for money was excellent. Perfect for us! I'd definitely stay here again, and would recommend to others.

Affordable, great service and excellent value for money

There's no breakfast here, but at the prices they charge you can hardly complain. They also supply you with a fridge, milk and plenty of tea and coffee. Their shop, on the ground floor, will provide you with everything else you need. If that's not enough, well just go to one of the many local cafes that serve a full English. 
Being right in the centre of Ambleside (beside the bus station) this is a superb location, which is surprisingly quiet, thereby helping to guarantee a good night's sleep. They can also supply you with free parking, quite an advantage in Ambleside

Good value place to stay with a very helpful young couple

I can't help but wonder if there isn't something untoward going on with the reviews of this property. The accommodation is a room above a newsagents shop on the edge of Ambleside Town Centre and has the feel of a spare bedroom that is used for fee paying guests when it's free rather than a dedicated B&B. The shop downstairs is dark and has an unwelcoming odour - and this lingers upstairs into the stairway and the room itself. The room is reasonably spacious with double bed and en suite bathroom and well appointed in terms of TV/fridge etc. But the room wasn't even remotely clean and generally unappealing. We moved out shortly after arriving and in fairness the owners were gracious about it and gave us a full refund and we found a significantly nicer B&B (The Melrose) just across the way without too many problems.

This was a really disappointing booking and as i suggest seemed to bear very little resemblance with the very high feedback scores and positive comments that the accommodation receives via Trip Advisor.
