Small minor issue, shower is hand held over bath which is tad awkward but lovely hosts and very clean hotel. Great location for all and private car park which is very rare in Ambleside 

Cost was fair and reasonable, would be more than happy to book again in the future 


Great hotel and great location 

Just returned home from short stay at Smallwood House which my wife and I really enjoyed nice big room with big bed on suite bathroom was lovely breakfast good but could be bigger like big sausage loved the marmalade our hosts were very friendly with a good sense of humour

Comfy Stay

This is a large B and B which does what it should - lovely and efficient hosts, breakfast cooked for you with lots of options and our room was large, bright and airy. Although it wa on the main road, we slept very well. There was parking, which is essential in Ambleside. It's located right in the town centre close to the shops and restaurants.

The owners also supply a book with all the details you need.

I have difficulty in understanding how there can be a bad review of this place.

Big room, parking, excellent breakfast

Spent bank holiday at this bed and breakfast never again 4 star what a joke on arrival we were told we had to pay extra for breakfast at 97 pound a night we were lead to believe breakfast was included  so that was a disappointment we were shown to the room well what can I say courtesy tray had a few teas one hot chocolate and one biscuit between the 2 of us the bathroom well that was awfull  if you used the shower which was hand held you soaked the whole bathroom and there was no hooks to hang up your clothes so they got soaked as well  carpets on the staircase were mismatch come on its advertised as a 4 star the sheet had a hole in it  we were asked if we had been to ambelside before we said no and no infirmary was given at all we were also lead to believe you could use the spa and pool at a nearby hotel once again no mention of it when we handed in the key at the end of our stay they didn't even have the courtesy to even ask if we enjoyed our stay or have a safe journey home  so a very big disappointment

certainly not a 4 star

A motorcycle friendly hotel, it was easy to find with parking at the rear. 

The hotel is located in the heart of Ambleside so its a short walk from the shops, pubs, crazy golf and restaurants

At night the car park is full,so tricky to get the bikes out once stored in the evening.

I'm not ashamed to admit that I can be a princess when it comes to beds, but they were firm, clean and just a great night sleep. I nearly missed breskfast. 

A grest breakfast, I thought the portions a little small but it was perfectly cooked with plenty of coffee. I suspect I could have had more if I asked as well. 

Overall, not a cheap date, but worth the money. If in the area, I would use again.
