The location of this hotel is outdtanding . close to metro and in the heart of old town in a bustling area that stays open till late . there is a taxi center close to the hotel .rooms are too small . beds are not comfortable at all . the location of our room was next to a shaft you could hear people in the next room breath while you are in shower . lights in the room work only if ypu insert the room key in a special slot next to the door .i asked for extra key but was denied . coffee and tea available in the lobby . but the location of this hotel made up for any other shortings . I recommend this hotel.

When you approach this monumental hotel by car you have the impression that you are approaching an art deco or at least an art nouveau hotel. Without seeing the poo yet. It reminds you of a very high cake. This is from the outside which I will come again shortly. From the inside it is this "I did not know how to do it and my brother in law told me what to do". The classic very heavy Anatolian design. Everything is very heavy in this hotel. You cannot move the armchairs in the lobby, so if you are a group of six friends there is no way to sit together. BEWARE: it is always full with either foreign or Turkish tourists either traveling westwards to Adiyaman or eastwards towards Mardin, so reserve early. The Midyat tourism is a one night tourism so don't expect the best, you will leave in the morning any way. Or continue to Mardin Azali hotel. (I personally strongly advise it. It is only 60 klms.) The rooms are spacious but the wall to wall carpet, at least in our room, needed a replacement very urgently. The rooms are either on the parking lot side, which is used also as a BBQ, or the pool side. The bathroom, dark and with towels that had seen better days had a shower and standard amenities. The breakfast with nice variety and in abundance was also the standard fare. So, you understand that the five stars of this hotel are the Midyat's standard of five stars. The view on the pool side is a dash better but don't forget to put the mosquito blinds because you risk to be devoured by mutated mosquitos. NOW: about the pool, with one word it is FANTASTIC. Nearly olympic size with very clear water. At the time that we were there (beginning of May) there was no service on the pool and it is the only place in the hotel that you could smoke. I am a casual cigar smoker, so I went to the pool to have a coffee and smoke my cigar. But the mutated mosquitos that I was talking about had their yearly "how can we suck more blood from naive foreigners that dare to come to the pool" convention and I left the pool without needing a blood transfusion. The most interesting thing about Midyat is the silverware that is really cheap and the Suryani (armenian) wine that is made in the Tur Abdin plateau. The market has no other interest. This trip is to a new area that been opened in the last, maybe, ten years. So they built new hotels and the population of the area has five folded since than. They opened the archeological treasures and made an easier access  to the existing ones, but still it is not for the faint hearted. It is a tiring journey, or allow 10 days for it (we did it in six) The hotels are in a passable and not in a luxury state as they claim. The guides surprised us pleasantly. They are university graduates and they know their subject vert good. It is the new generation of guides you know, that keep you interested and are immensely friendly. The Turks are very generous and foreign friendly and they understood that for the area tourism is a very serious income. So, TRAVEL, it is the best revenge. Living well starts with traveling. Be good.

FROM OITSIDE AND FROM INSIDE

I think it's the biggest hotel in Midyat. Even though it's a 5 stars, I'd give it a 4 star only. It's an average hotel. The rooms are right size, it has flat screen cable TV and minibar with coffee machine (water heater). The bathroom is ok. The service is not the best. They have a huge outdoor pool with some slides. The hotel serves alcohol, which is a difficult thing to find in Midyat/Mardin area.
