Rixos Sungate - The Land of Legend Access

What an amazing 10 days we had at the Rixos - Sungate. A truly special place that we will now visit very regularly. Where to start... For context we are: UK Family of 2 adults - 3 children (3,6,9) We arrived very late (early) around 3am and were greeted at reception. Bell boys helped show us to our room and brought up all of our bags. On first impression, our room (Family suite with balcony - Main building) was spacious, slightly dated decor but that didn't particularly bother us as much as other reviewers. We took a quick look out n the balcony where it was pitch black but we could see the pools all lit up below, very nice, we got the air con flowing and jumped straight into bed. We woke and opened the curtains to the most STUNNING view that transformed our opinion of the room. We were greeted via whatsapp with the daily schedule from our guest relations rep Amirreza. This guy... a total hero and a fantastic example of how to make a guest feel seen, valued and appreciated. More on that later. Next up - BREAKFAST Breakfast each day was served in the turquoise buffet restaurant. A massive selection of world foods. I find it absolutely baffling that some reviews say the buffet is 'repetitive'. Of course it is!! However its a buffet! You can choose to eat something different each day and there is ABSOLUTELY enough choice to do so! Our kids obviously opted for pancakes most mornings, however. DINNER - Evening meals Dinner was much the same as breakfast in that it was a huge selection of various foods. Far to much available to ever suggest it was repetitive. Just choose something else! There was some really beautiful presented, well cooked and delicious options. All of us managed to eat really well for our entire stay and our children loved it. We were also fortunate enough try out 2 of the A La Carte options. Both offered to us free of charge and both equally delicious. The chinese was very nice and similar to a nice UK based chinese restaurant. More sweet and sour chicken, less chicken feet. Our favourite was the seafood restaurant. Despite the fact only 1 of our party was a 'seafood fan' we absolutely loved this place. The setting on the sea front is truly stunning, live music and a 'smashing' (plates) performance. The service was great (kids were given pizzas etc..) and the wine was much nicer than the main bars. So good we tried it twice. LUNCH/SNACKS During the day, the seafood restaurant doubles as a snack bar. We sat there a few times for lunch with the sound of the waves and incredible views. Other options we tried were the Rixy kids club - Loads of options for children and adults. Favourites with our tribe were spaghetti/pasta, burgers, pizza and chips. We found ourselves mostly full from breakfast so the crisps/nuts/fresh strawberries that were brought to us regularly as we relaxed in the pool bar were often enough to see us through until dinner. However, the ice cream and patisserie place did tempt us in a few times...ok...ok ... more than a few!!! KIDS CLUB The provision for children in this hotel is truly incredible. Our eldest daughter loved the music classes and the teacher was really REALLY good. We also did science class, art class and a few others. The soft play was a big hit and our son loved the PS5s. Unfortunately for us adults our kids are sometimes anxious about being left so we didnt bother leaving them in the kids club alone despite the fact a Mummy and Daddy cocktail day was calling us. On an evening there was a carnival with sweets, popcorn, icecream , candy floss... we watched the circus and houdini performances which again we great for the children. EVENING ENTERTAINMENT As parents with young kids, our partying days are fleeting at best. We prefer an early night these days. However, unfortunately for us we had booked during 'May-fest'. Basically a music festival held within the hotel. We didn't know any of the artists however looking on social media these were HUGE acts with millions of online followers mainly from eastern europe. Not our thing. However I was still impressed by this... if we had wanted we could of watched world famous acts almost every night as part of our stay! HOWEVER. As explained, this just wasn't for us and unfortunately the noise on an evening until 2am was BOUNCING! Our room we loved slowly became a little bit of a nightmare on an evening. CUSTOMER RELATIONS One message to Amirreza explaining the above and he simply replied that he would sort it for us while we enjoyed our day at Land of Legends (absolutely epic by the way and again INCLUDED IN OUR STAY!) . We came back and we had been upgraded...Mega upgraded. We got to spend a week in a Family pool house, by the fantasy pool and bar which was truly magical and ...silent. The customer service at this hotel was superb. Nothing we asked for was ever a problem. It seemed that they were 3 steps ahead of us making sure that our stay was as perfect as possible. If we asked for something it always felt like they somehow knew we were about to ask and had already prepared a solution. Genuinely the best service we have ever received in a hotel. Amirezza, hats off to you and thanks for making this a perfect holiday for our family, something we will never forget. Also a special mention to Salim in the main restaurant. Fantastic and attentive service. OTHER HIGHLIGHTS AQUA PARK - great slides, even our 6 yr old got on the biggest slide which he was thrilled about LAND OF LEGENDS - Shuttle was great. The fact the entry and shuttle is part of your stay is brilliant and its a fanastic theme park. We went twice. POOLS - Cold (time of year) but incredibly fun. SPA - We used the spa and both had a massage and our eldest daughter had a kids treatment. Very good. RUSSIANS - Rude SUMMARY - True luxury isn't always practical for young families... For us we found Rixos Sungate a perfect balance of luxury, fun and practicality for families. We will return every year.
